A creative Pokemon fan has designed an array of regional variants for Sinistea and Polteageist, re-imagining the tea-themed Pokemon in a fantasy-inspired aesthetic. The long-running monster-catching franchise's "regional variant" system has allowed Game Freak and The Pokemon Company to create a plethora of new spins on some of the series' most iconic designs. Widely recognizable creatures like Meowth, Raichu, and Zigzagoon have received their own regional variants, while Scarlet and Violet also introduced "regional fakes" as different Pokemon entirely. Now, one fan is giving a new look to a Sword and Shield evolutionary line.

First introduced in Pokemon's eighth generation, Sinistea and Polteageist were instant fan-favorites due to their unique and eye-catching designs. Sinistea features two different forms with both a "Phony" and "Antique" form, with each requiring a different item to evolve into a Polteageist. The two Ghost Pokemon would also receive their own regional fakes in Scarlet and Violet's Teal Mask expansion, adding both Poltchageist and Sinistcha with a similar form and evolution mechanic. One inventive fan is now taking another spin on the tea Pokemon's design.

Pokemon Fan Designs Sinistea and Polteageist Regional Variants

The unique new designs for Sinistea and Polteageist saw plenty of praise in the replies from fellow Pokemon fans. One fan decided to give the Sinistea variants an original name based on their Renaissance inspiration, referring to the Pokemon as "Renistea" and "Cauldrigeist." Another suggested that the unusual appearance of the Sinistea and Polteageist could be used as a disguise, fitting to older methods for making the franchise's Potions. The user also shared that they had created some original Pokemon based on the Renaissance Fair experience.

Fans awaiting more unique regional variants likely won't have to wait long, with Pokemon's next game expected to introduce more new spins. The Pokemon Company officially announced Pokemon Legends: Z-A as the newest main-line Pokemon game, with a release window set for 2025. The previous Legends game in Pokemon Legends: Arceus added several new variants for the Hisui region, including new evolutions like Kleavor and Wyrdeer among others.
