Food is an amazing human creation that breaks down barriers and allows for the creative juices to truly flow as people show off their talents. Onto that, it seems like gamers often use food as a medium to celebrate their hobby such as Dominos and the PS5-themed pizza they concocted as an advertisement.

Whether its Pizza Hut and PlayStation demo discs, or Kirby swallowing truckloads of food for health, it feels like food and gaming have a strange connection that can't quite be explained. And now, it appears as though fans of the popular monster-catching franchise Pokemon are using their fandom to craft some truly creative foodstuffs.

Reddit user miscellaneousmao posted on the Pokemon Sword and Shield subreddit a video of a Pokemon-themed hot chocolate bomb. For those out of the loop, a hot chocolate bomb is an candy orb that contains the powdery contents to make a hot chocolate. Once someone pours their steamed beverage of choice over the orb, it melts and crumbles to add the powder into the liquid, thus creating hot chocolate. It is truly an inventive way to make the popular wintery treat even more fun. This one in particular has gained tons of traction on the web for its clever use of the hot chocolate bomb medium.

The hot chocolate bomb itself looks just like the Netball, a special type of Pokeball for catching Bug or Water typed Pokemon. In this case, the ball not only contains the hot chocolate powder, but it hosts a marshmallow version of one of Pokemon Sword and Shield's most popular Bug and Ice type Pokemon, Snom. After the drink is completed, the marshmallow Snow lovingly rests on top of the tasty drink, ready to be consumed. This comes in conjuction with Pokemon Sword and Shield receiving some of 2020's best DLC.

Fans of the subreddit and the post in particular, were dying to know if they could purchase a hot chocolate bomb of their own, but were quickly shot down as the Reddit user told her fans that this was only something she made for herself for fun. This is likely a great decision as selling licensed merch without permission could get her in trouble, similar to the drama over CptnAlex and his Etika-themed Joycons.

With Pokemon-themed food and Pokemon-themed planes flying around Japan, it's obvious just how much of a foothold the popular franchise has in human culture. And while fans won't be able to purchase this hot chocolate bomb for themselves, they can assuage that hunger by playing Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
