A Pokemon fan put their hands to work and stitched a giant, crochet plush of the legendary Lugia. The Pokemon fan then posted their work on social media for all to see and gave a reason why they crocheted the massive Lugia plush to begin with. The artist received praise from other Pokemon trainers for their efforts.

Known as the Diving Pokemon, Lugia first appeared as the box art Legendary Pokemon of 1999's Pokemon Silver for the Game Boy, as well as its 2009 remake Pokemon SoulSilver for the Nintendo DS. Lugia was also featured prominently in the Pokemon anime's second feature film, Pokemon the Movie 2000. Since its introduction in the Johto region, the Psychic and Flying-type Lugia has been one of the most popular Legendary Pokemon in the entire Pokemon series. As a result of its popularity, fans have made their tributes to Lugia, including one artist that created their cuddly take on the Diving Pokemon.

On Reddit, a Pokemon fan named itsagiraffeee showed their crocheted Lugia. Though crochet plushes of different Pokemon have been done before, Lugia's design presented some unique challenges. According to the OP, they used plush yarn of various colors to stitch Lugia together, and they followed a pattern by a user named DerHaekelwurm to put together the plush. With white and various shades of blue as their yarn colors of choice, itsagiraffeee used felt to create Lugia's eyes and some hot glue to attach them to the yarn. The OP then added that they created the Lugia plush as a gift for their sister-in-law's 12th birthday.

The post from itsagiraffeee received over 340 upvotes in under a day on the r/pokemon subreddit. One comment praised the OP for making Lugia's arms big, and another wanted to hug the plush Pokemon. When asked about the plush yarn used to craft Lugia together, the OP replied that the plush yarn tends to make for bigger plush dolls and that it was their favorite to work with when designing Lugia. While Lugia remains a popular Pokemon for fan artists to create new concepts for, such as Paradox forms inspired by Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, plush projects such as itsagiraffeee's are a rarer sight. Nonetheless, Lugia has yet to appear in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at the time of writing.

Pokemon trainers and fans of Lugia may want to tune in to the August 8 edition of Pokemon Presents to see what surprises await them. It remains to be seen if Lugia will make an appearance or not.
