A Pokemon fan artist continued an ongoing project by showing off a redesign of the Fire Pokemon Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard as Ghost-types with haunting features. The Pokemon fan artist shared their work with other trainers and received compliments for their ongoing efforts and their creativity.

Charmander and its evolutionary line first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue as the Fire-type starters of the Kanto region. Since their introduction, the Lizard and Flame Pokemon have been among the most popular Pokemon in the entire series due to their iconic designs and their powerful Fire-type attacks, such as Flamethrower, Fire Blast, and Blast Burn. The Flame Pokemon has also received battle-exclusive form changes, with Mega Charizard and Gigantamax Charizard among the more noticeable ones. While it remains to be seen if Charizard will receive a new Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the Flame Pokemon has remained fresh in the minds of trainers.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Announce Limited-Time Paradox Tera Raids

Following the Primarina raids, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet pull back the curtain on two Paradox Tera Raids that will not be around for long.

Although Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard can be found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, one Pokemon trainer chose to give them a fresh look altogether. A Reddit user named bunopsia redesigned the Kanto Fire-type starters as Ghost Pokemon and shared a picture of their work on the r/pokemon subreddit. In their artwork, Charmander and Charmeleon were given the Ghost and Fire types, while Charizard was changed to a Ghost and Water dual-type. All three Pokemon had dark gray bodies, with Charmander and Charmeleon having hollowed-out eyes. Charmander and Charmeleon had their tail flames changed to lanterns, and Charmander sported a hood similar to the Grim Reaper. Charmeleon was given two heads, as its body started to grow out of the reaper's cloak.

Pokemon Fan Redesigns Charmander Line As Ghost-Type Monsters

As for Charizard, the Flame Pokemon was changed to a three-headed monstrosity, and walked on all fours as its eyes glowed a haunting blue shade. The tail lantern was shattered and left broken glass. Known for their work in making a Ghost-type Bulbasaur line, bunopsia stated their work with Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard was part of the ongoing Pokemon fan art project called "Pokemon GHOST." The project's goal is to recreate the first 151 Pokemon as ghastly monsters. In the comments, bunopsia said their Ghost-type Charmander line was based on Greek mythology, namely from Charon, the ferryman of the River Styx, and the iconic three-headed hound named Cerberus.

Other Pokemon fans chimed in and pointed out how Charizard's flame going out was thematic for a Ghost Pokemon. With Charmander being the subject of Pokemon fan projects of all kinds, the popularity of Kanto's first Fire Pokemon persists after nearly three decades.
