  • A talented Pokemon fan has given Dragapult a creative makeover, transforming it into a Normal-type Pokemon and emphasizing its ability to launch Dreepies from its head.
  • The artist named the redesigned creature "Dragasling" and invented a new move called Dragon Shot, which is a slingshot attack that always results in a critical hit.
  • Along with the redesign, the artist also created a shiny version of Dragasling with a tan body and golden horns.

One Pokemon fan with some serious artistic chops has recently gone to great lengths to reimagine Dragapult as a Normal-type creature. This achievement adds to the already sizable pile of impressive Generation 8 redesigns that the fandom put together since Pokemon Sword and Shield released in 2019.

The eighth-generation Pokemon games introduced 89 new pocket monsters, including the evolution line consisting of Dreepy, Drakloak, and Dragapult. This trio of creatures is notable for boasting Dragon/Ghost typing, which is a unique type combination that's only used by one other creature in the entire franchise - Giratina from the seminal fourth generation of Pokemon games.

A Pokemon GO player manages to catch an extremely rare Gastly while playing the augmented reality mobile game.

As part of a creative exercise, YouTuber JJonnyDraws recently decided to give Dragapult a high-effort makeover, doing away with its uncommon typing in favor of turning it into a Dragon and Normal-type Pokemon. As has become customary for this content creator, Dragapult's new typing was decided with a random roll. After the digital wheel landed on the Normal type, JJonnyDraws came up with an original creature concept that doubles down on the fact that Dragapult launches its offspring out of its head like it's a catapult. Specifically, the YouTuber turned the creature's horns into a giant slingshot that the Pokemon pulls with its tail in order to shoot out Dreepies.

In order to underline the redesign's central gimmick, the artist dubbed his re-imagining "Dragasling." He also came up with a unique move called Dragon Shot that he figured would fit this Dragapult rendition, describing it as a slingshot attack that scores a guaranteed critical hit. Although the artist frequently attaches legitimate moves to his re-imaginings, Dragon Shot is a completely original invention as it doesn't exist in any Pokemon game. JJonnyDraws also described Dragasling as featuring Parental Bond, which is normally a Kangaskhan ability that allows both its wielder and their child to attack simultaneously.

Finally, the artist came up with a shiny version of Dragasling that features a tan body instead of a teal one, in addition to boasting golden horns. Although the YouTuber's re-imaginings often break new ground in terms of Pokemon typing, the Normal/Dragon combination has actually already been explored by Game Freak in the past, as underlined by the existence of Drampa from the Generation 7 games.

This is far from the first unique pocket monster redesign that JJonnyDraws authored to date; just several weeks ago, the same artist turned Pikachu into a Bug-type Pokemon.
