In a heartwarming gesture of goodwill, The Pokemon Company recently made a massive donation to help those affected by this week’s Noto Peninsula Earthquake. On January 1, a severe earthquake struck 4.3 miles north-northwest of the Japanese city of Suzu, which is located in the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture. Both the resulting seismic activity and a subsequent tsunami caused massive damage across the Noto Peninsula. The 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake has been deemed the deadliest to take place in Japan since the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes.
Footage of the earthquake taken by Twitch users who were streaming at the time of the event soon spread across social media. Numerous other countries, companies, and individuals have lent their support to the people of Japan following this latest natural disaster. For example, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers recently pledged an unspecified amount of money toward humanitarian aid in the Noto Peninsula, followed by the team itself donating an additional $1 million.

A recent financial report reveals that The Pokemon Company International has experienced a multibillion-dollar increase in its total revenue.
The Pokemon Company recently announced that it would be donating 50 Million Yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society and other organizations. This news was posted on The Pokemon Company’s official Twitter account, which also gave its condolences to the people impacted by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake and promised that The Pokemon Company will continue its support through the Pokemon With You Foundation, which hosts special events to raise money and boost morale among children affected by natural disasters.
This is but the latest in a series of humanitarian efforts by The Pokemon Company, who initially set up the Pokemon With You Foundation after the Tohoku earthquake in 2011. Earlier this year, The Pokemon Company made huge donations to support the Hawaii Wildfire Relief Fund following the devastating wildfires that broke out in early August. In 2022, The Pokemon Company publicly lent its support to Ukraine during its efforts to maintain its independence and also made donations to multiple charities following the success of Pokemon GO Fest 2020 a couple of years prior.
