The Pokemon Company has officially revealed the widely-rumored "Coin Pokemon" now known as Gimmighoul, the adorable yet equally mysterious Coin Chest Pokemon which will be coming to both the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games, as well as Pokemon GO. This Pokemon has been the subject of much discussion among the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet community in recent months, but fans finally have some legitimate information to dig into.

Only recently did a group of Pokemon dataminers leak some files containing a full 3D model for a never-before-seen Pokemon, complete with its own set of animations. Although no name was found for the mysterious Pokemon at the time, the discovery was enough to catch the attention of many invested fans who were certain that this model represented the elusive Coin Pokemon. Some even recognized the Pokemon from one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's most recent trailers, which included a brief glance at the unknown critter in the background of a shot.

The announcement of Gimmighoul came from the Pokemon Company's official Twitter account, informing Trainers over a series of tweets that Professor Willow and Mr. Jacq had made some discoveries regarding this new Pokemon. The tweets directed players to two YouTube videos that featured the characters discussing their findings relating to Gimmighoul, as well as a fairytale-like story of a young girl who crossed the path of a Gimmighoul during a stroll. Gimmighoul is set to appear in both Scarlet and Violet as well as in the world of Pokemon GO.

As for what is known about the new Pokemon, it can apparently be found in two different forms - Roaming Form, where it wanders around the world collecting coins, and Chest Form, where it will hide in a treasure chest that is believed to be a part of its body. While it's uncertain whether the different forms will affect Gimmighoul's type in some way, it seems that it will be a new addition to the roster of Ghost-type Pokemon.

Despite the new announcements, it seems that the Pokemon Company is leaving many questions yet unanswered, as there is still an air of mystery surrounding the ghostly Pokemon. Many fans continue to wonder what the significance is of those strange golden coins that Gimmighoul seems to love, and what the Pokemon might mean to the wider story of the next mainline Pokemon games. That said, many other fans are just excited to have an adorable new Pokemon on their teams as they travel around the Paldea region. With so many mysteries yet to uncover, fans are more excited than ever to begin their journeys around Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet later this month.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be available on Nintendo Switch from November 18.
