The series retains a dedicated fan base almost three decades after it first emerged, and as a result, it can take something really special to stand out amongst the incredible amount of fan creations. Redditor nupsume shared their awesome concept with the Pokemon community online, which shows what Bulbasaur might have looked like as a 3D model in the Nintendo DS titles. All of the Nintendo DS-era Pokemon games used sprites, and it wasn't until Generation 6's X and Y on the 3DS that the series moved to 3D models instead. This concept features an adorable low-poly Bulbasaur, showcasing the aesthetic gamers may have received if Game Freak made the switch earlier. The eyes are even animated, giving the popular Generation 1 starter even more life.

Pokemon Fan Imagines What a 3D Model For Bulbasaur Looks Like on Nintendo DS

As a Generation 1 starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur is in a unique position. Arriving in Generation 1 means that fans have had almost 30 years to get familiar with Bulbasaur, and being a starter means it will be the Pokemon that many have spent the most time with overall. Ultimately, this means that Bulbasaur (and other starters) gets a massive amount of fan art, so it's always interesting to see what fans come up with. Just recently, one Pokemon fan created an awesome Bulbasaur night light, bringing the beloved creature into their home as an evening comfort.

It has only been a couple of years since Generation 9 of the Pokemon series was first launched in the form of Scarlet and Violet. This is set to continue next year, with the planned release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, official news on Generation 10 has been impossible to come by, with Nintendo nor Game Freak willing to discuss plans for the next big set of titles in the series. A little while back now, a Pokemon leak revealed that players can expect to see Generation 10 in 2026, although as with any leak, these plans can always change as development continues.
