A talented Pokemon fan has built an impressive Bulbasaur night light that looks just like a terrarium. Nintendo’s long-running Pokemon franchise has inspired plenty of creative artwork and other fan-made projects thanks to its ever-growing lineup of elementally empowered creatures - and it all began with the original three starter Pokemon from Pokemon Red and Blue. Bulbasaur was the Grass-type option players could select at the start of the game, as well as the very first officially numbered Pokemon overall.

Because of this, Bulbasaur and its evolutions are among some of the most popular Grass-type Pokemon in existence, and players from around the world have honored the Seed Pokemon with different kinds of arts and crafts over the years. From fan-made variants that imagine Bulbasaur and its later stages as Ghost types to custom Starfield spacecraft modeled after the original Grass starter, Bulbasaur has been a muse for countless artists who grew up playing the Pokemon Red and Blue games or watching the Pokemon anime.

Over on r/pokemon, Reddit user Tessa_71 shared images of a custom Pokemon-themed night light based on Bulbasaur, with the Seed Pokemon standing in a grassy field beneath a glowing light. Bulbasaur looks like it is engaged in an intense battle, with its vines extended and a pair of Pokeballs sitting beside it. Other Reddit users have complimented Tessa_71 for their handiwork, and the creator of this impressive night light has asked the forum about other Pokemon they could make a night light for.

Pokemon Fan's Custom Bulbasaur Night Light

The brilliant suggestions these fellow Pokemon fans have made so far include Bulbasaur’s fellow Red and Blue starters Squirtle and Charmander and the fiery Fox Pokemon Vulpix. Some of Tessa_71’s other gaming-themed night lights include ones modeled after the Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda, Malenia's Winged Helm from Elden Ring, and 2B from Nier: Automata. They have also crafted lights for non-gaming villains like Star Wars Darth Vader and The Lord of the Rings Sauron.

Tessa_71’s latest work is a stunning tribute to Bulbasaur that captures the original Grass starter Pokemon’s element and personality quite well. Judging from their comments, it looks like they will continue creating custom Pokemon night lights, and with 1,025 existing Pokemon to date, they will have plenty of options to choose from for their next project. In the meantime, Bulbasaur remains one of the most beloved creatures in the franchise, both as a popular starter and the very first Pokemon to be listed among Nintendo’s expanding collection.
