The three original starters from the very first Pokemon games remain fan favorites more than 25 years later, and one creative fan gives Bulbasaur a pretty, fruit-themed redesign to express their love for Kanto's Grass-type starter Pokemon. With the Pokemon series introducing countless new visages for existing Pokemon in the forms of regional variants, mega evolutions, and Gigantamax forms over the years, it's no wonder that artists are inspired to create new designs of their own.

Unsurprisingly, starter Pokemon seem to be the ones who tend to get the most love when it comes to fan-made art projects. From curious redesigns to complex sprite artwork, each region's starters are often found to be the subjects of sophisticated creative endeavors within the Pokemon community. As the name suggests, starter Pokemon are almost always the first companions that new Trainers will set out with when they start on a new journey, with each game generally offering a selection of no more than three distinct starters - one Grass-type, one Water-type, and one Fire-type. This tradition has been concrete ever since the very first Pokemon titles, which first introduced fans to Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

The Kanto starter Pokemon are just as popular within the game's community today as they were 27 years ago, if not more so. One talented artist named YoRHasatanael within the Pokemon community recently shared one of their own designs in a post on Reddit, which features the Grass-type Bulbasaur redesigned as an adorable strawberry Pokemon. Along with a light-red recolor to match the fruity aesthetic, the Pokemon now features a large strawberry on its back instead of its iconic bulb. Though the artist didn't specify whether this new form would also feature a difference in type, this berry-form Bulbasaur would seem to be a perfect fit for the Fairy-type family.

Plenty of similar makeovers have been done for the franchise's newest starter Pokemon, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly as well. These adorable additions to the world of Pokemon seem to have gone down well with fans since they were introduced prior to the launch of the Generation 9 games, with each of these critters enjoying plenty of their own redesigns, with one fan-artist even daring to imagine what these Pokemon would look like as humans.

While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may not be the best in terms of visuals or polish, the Paldea region has introduced tons of new themes that have sparked the interest of Pokemon-loving creatives around the world. As well as bringing in its own variety of adorable new creatures, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet also saw the introduction of Paradox Pokemon, which have since led to redesigns for countless existing Pokemon that take inspiration from both past and future.
