The Soothe Bell held item has been around for quite some time in the mainline Pokemon series. The item is meant to be held by a trainer's Pokemon and what it does is calm the holder with its sounds, increasing its friendship/happiness levels. A Pokemon's friendship level really doesn't impact how it performs in battles. Still, some Pokemon can only evolve into their next form if they reach a certain amount of happiness/friendship.

In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, the Soothe Bell item is back, but there's only one that players can find throughout the entire Sinnoh region. Here's where players can find the Soothe Bell and the recommended Pokemon that should be holding it.

Where to Find the Soothe Bell in Sinnoh

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players can head south from Hearthome City to enter Route 212. After traveling the route for a little bit, players will find a large Pokemon Mansion with a bunch of rooms and several NPCs to speak to. This is also the location for the Trophy Garden, located in the backyard. There's a chance to catch some fairly rare Pokemon here, like Pikachu, Bonsly, Castform, and Mime Jr.

After entering the Pokemon Mansion, head into the first hallway on the left and enter the second room from the right. Here, a green-haired maid will be hanging out, and she will give players the Soothe Bell for nothing in return. The item will be added to the inventory and can be held by any Pokemon in the party to raise its happiness levels.

Which Pokemon Should the Soothe Bell be Used on?

As for the kinds of Pokemon that evolve with maxing out their happiness/friendship, here's a list for players to refer to. Not all of these Pokemon are available in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but a majority of them are.
