Within the Pokemon world, Arceus is known as the creator of the universe. Outside the Pokemon games, Arceus is notorious for being a Legendary Pokemon that was part of a canceled in-game event for the Sinnoh games, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Finally, with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, trainers will be able to catch Arceus for their Sinnoh adventures without having to hack the game.

Getting Arceus in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl still requires the Azure Flute. However, instead of being a part of a Mystery Gift, players can get this key item only if they have a completed save file of Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Along with this, there are other in-game requirements in BDSP that need to be fulfilled before Arceus can appear.

The titular Pokemon can be encountered in Pokemon Legends: Arceus once players have caught every Pokemon within the Hisui region. Arceus is part of Mission 27: The Deified Pokemon. Unfortunately for some, Mission 27 is part of Legends: Arceus' main story Missions, meaning it must be completed to count towards their Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl save file.

Fortunately, Legends: Arceus makes it possible to catch Pokemon without having to initiate battle, meaning it's very easy to go to one area and catch different species simultaneously. Additionally, the main story isn't too complicated, but some trainers may struggle with the postgame boss.

Once Mission 27 is complete, players can then get Arceus in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

To get the Azure Flute, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl need to be updated to the 1.3.0 version. Players must also have beaten the Elite Four and received the National Dex. Altogether, getting Arceus in BDSP requires the following:

  1. Complete all 27 Missions in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
  2. Become the Pokemon Champion of Sinnoh and get the National Dex in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
  3. Have BDSP updated to 1.3.0 (available March 15, 2022).

The next step is to Fly to Twinleaf Town. Go upstairs to the bedroom and receive the Azure Flute. With this key item in hand, it's time to go to Mt. Coronet and confront Arceus.

Specifically, having the Azure Flute will create a staircase above Spear Pillar (Mt. Coronet's summit), the place where players caught Dialga (Brilliant Diamond) or Palkia (Shining Pearl). Climb the stairs to enter the Hall of Origin where Arceus will be waiting.

Arceus will be at an incredible level 80, so save before trying to catch it. Bring a powerful team and have plenty of Ultra Balls and Timer Balls.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are available now on Nintendo Switch.
