The Pokemon franchise is well known for featuring adorable pocket monsters with incredible power, but some Pokemon are on another level entirely. Throughout the series, Legendary and Mythical Pokemon are often portrayed as possessing godlike levels of power, with many sets of these mighty Pokemon adhering to a specific theme. Now, a group of Pokemon fans is debating which Legendary trio is the best.

Each Pokemon region has at least one Legendary trio, a group of three Legendaries of mythological significance to the area. These Legendary trios are distinguished from other Legendaries by their strong relationships with each other as well as their sheer might. The original Legendary trio was the Legendary Birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

Redditor AKSHAT1234A kicked off the discussion with a poll asking Pokemon fans which Legendary trio they think is best. Although the poll only provides six popular options due to mechanical limitations, the discussion is open to any of the existing Legendary trios. AKSHAT1234A suggested that fans judge the best Legendary trio based on either competitive viability, design, and lore. After all, the most useful Pokemon in competitive play aren't always the Pokemon that cast the deepest shadows in the games' narrative.

Several users immediately declared that Hoenn's Weather Trio, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, had the best lore. These three mighty Pokemon are introduced as incredible forces of destruction that personify natural disasters. Furthermore, the nature of Rayquaza as a giant flying dragon that dwells in the upper atmosphere is fascinating to consider. This leads one fan to state that if the Pokemon universe has space travel, they probably have to work around Rayquaza's current location when launching rockets. Another faction, however, states that Johto's Legendary Dogs -Entei, Raikou, and Suicune - are the best trio because of how much fun Gen 2 players had chasing them around the map.

Another group argues that the Legendary Birds are the best trio because they were the first and because they were excellent bosses in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. Plus, they're now a two-for-one deal with the new Galarian variants. One user expressed excitement about how Galarian Zapdos requires the player to chase after it on their bike. A number of users praised the Legendary Titans, also known as the Legendary giants or simply Regis. However, as there are now five Regis on top of their creator Regigigas, the Legendary Titans no longer count as one of Pokemon's Legendary trios.
