  • The attention to detail in the designs, typings, and moves of each sister form shows that fan art can rival the official designs of The Pokemon Company, highlighting the creativity and appreciation for all Pokemon.

One extremely talented artist and dedicated Pokemon fan has created three different variants of Delphox. Delphox is the final form of the Fire-type starter Fennekin from Pokemon X and Y. When it comes to Pokemon, starters Pokemon are generally popular subjects for fan art, but Delphox is perhaps an overlooked character due to the popularity of another Gen 6 monster, Greninja.

Greninja, the fully-evolved version of the Water-type starter Froakie, is commonly referenced as a popular character as it was still one of the 10 most-searched-for Pokemon last year. It doesn't hurt that Greninja is also prominently featured in the anime as one of Ash's most powerful team members and even has a spot in the Super Smash Bros. roster. Still, some artists give Delphox its due.

The Gen 6 starter is certainly having a big summer after recently appearing as a 7-star Tera Raid boss in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Now, Reddit user JJonnie shares their creation of the three different Delphox "witch sisters" in a post asking fans what their abilities should be. While the Pokemon is a Fire-Psychic dual type in the video games, JJonnie imagines what each of the sisters would be like with a different secondary type as well as a new aesthetic overhaul.

Taking inspiration from pop culture witches, each form has a unique style, type, and signature move. Ol'hag is a Fire and Poison-type inspired by the evil witch in Snow White; Malfi is a Fire and Dragon-type that draws its inspiration from Maleficent; Betrix is Bellatrix Lestrange-inspired Pokemon with an Electric secondary type and the special move Eleca Kedavra. Ol'hag's Poison Apple move is surely taken from the poisonous green apple that the evil witch serves to Snow White, and Malfi's ability to turn into a pure Dragon-type is certainly a reference to Maleficent's magical power to transform into a dragon.

It is apparent that a lot of thought went not only into the designs of each of the three forms but their typing and moves as well. From the top down, each sister has extensive care and attention paid to it and could arguably compete with some of The Pokemon Company's best official designs.

What is so great about Pokemon fan art is that it can shine a new light on underappreciated characters like Delphox. It just goes to show that every Pokemon out there is likely to be someone's favorite. And with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's first wave of DLC coming next month, this might be just the inspiration Pokemon fans need to get out there and train their Delphox.
