Ever since Pokemon began back in 1996, one of its features that the series loved to show off was the fact that there were tons of creatures, and the goal for players was that they gotta catch them all. As Pokemon have only grown in number over the 25 years the series has been around, catching every single one has become only more and more difficult. With enough tenacity, one fan has not only completed the Pokedex but has completed it across every one of the main titles.

Pokemon started with only 151 Pokemon back with Pokemon Red Version, Pokemon Blue Version, and Pokemon Yellow Version. With every new main release, the number of available creatures to catch has grown to a whopping 898 Pokemon in the games since.

The fan, psychokirby17 on Reddit, has posted pictures taken of numerous Nintendo consoles with the Pokedex open on-screen as proof of completion. Every single one of the screenshots shows the "caught" metric at the max number, and later games show the Pokedex is full with crowns and 100% marks in plain sight.

In the comments of the post, psychokirby17 reveals to another Reddit user that the save editing tool PKHeX was used for assistance on some Pokemon. Some users have accused that this means psychokirby17 cheated, but psychokirby17 claims that the saves were only edited with help for the Mythical Pokemon, which are only given away at special events, and are few and far between for some players. Even Pokemon Home seems to agree that using PKHeX for them is understandable, as a bonus screenshot shows that they all can be transferred to the Pokemon storage app with no trouble.

Even with the use of save edits for some of the creatures, psychokirby17 says that all other Pokemon were caught fairly, and the feat is still impressive, especially with all of them able to make their way into Pokemon Home. After all, it takes into account all of the Pokemon that psychokirby17 had to get that make them difficult to obtain like tricky evolution mechanics and version exclusiveness like with the Legendaries.

Still, finding out resources beyond the game were used to complete the Pokedex so many times may be a little disheartening to hear. Even if Mythicals are hard to come by, trading is an option for some of the titles, or psychokirby17 could have simply used save editing to only make the Mythical Pokemon appear and still need to be caught personally. Until someone beats what psychokirby17 has accomplished, this is still a great sign that after 25 years, the Pokedex can still be completed if someone works to be the very best.

The latest main Pokemon titles, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, are available now on Nintendo Switch.
