A dedicated Pokemon fan has created new baby Pokemon that branch-evolve into different monsters. Branch evolution has been a staple in the Pokemon franchise since Gen 1 when players could evolve Eevee into different forms by utilizing certain stones.

Over the years, the Pokemon community has taken it upon itself to create countless unofficial monsters that either fill in some evolutionary gaps from certain monsters or simply merge two Pokemon to create something new. Fusions that merge legendary Pokemon are often quite popular among players, but one fan has gone one step further and created Pokemon that link two independent monsters together.

Pokemon Fan Makes Regional Form for Smeargle

A creative Pokemon fan has imagined a new regional form for classic Pokemon Smeargle, giving the artist Pokemon a more combat-ready appearance.

One artist that goes by the name of PhantomLink2782 has posted three new Pokemon that all branch out to different evolutions. The first pocket monster is Bubboon which is a Normal-type monkey who acts as the pre-evolution stage for both Oranguru and Passimian. The next monster to be showcased is Chokzki, a Fighting-type that can evolve into either Sawk or Throh, much in the same vein as Tyrogue who evolves into the Hitmon family. Rounding out the post is the adorable Electric-type Pomzee that can evolve into either Plusle or Minun depending on the conditions set.

The art seems to be a hit with the r/Pokemon subreddit, with replies praising the detail going into the post, which includes evolution requirements along with the shiny Pokemon variants. Several posts are already questioning why Bubboon and Chokzki aren’t already part of the often confusing Pokemon lore. The pre-evolution stages PhantomLink2782 has presented in their post seamlessly fit in with the existing creatures, and in what could be considered the ultimate compliment, some players are even suggesting how the baby forms can be used as part of their teams when heading into battle.

Game Freak isn’t in the habit of using fan-made art for their stable of monsters, so these evolutions won’t be made official in any capacity. However, it won’t stop players from creating different forms of Pokemon any time soon. Recently, one fan created a new evolution of Mewtwo, reimaging the Physic creation as a cybernetic Ice-type known as Mewthrice.

PhantomLink2782’s post certainly shows the passion within the community as they look to fill in possible evolutionary gaps. For now, fans have the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC releasing in December 2023, before fans turn their attention to Generation 10 of Pokemon, which could release as soon as Holiday 2024 if the various rumors prove to be accurate.
