Now that the PlayStation 5 has had some time to get settled, Sony is ready to move its VR gaming to the next generation as well with the PSVR 2. The headset packs some advanced hardware, but it will also need a strong line-up of launch titles if it hopes to make a strong impression. Fortunately, it appears that gamers will have a good selection of choices that will steadily grow throughout the year.

The big system seller for the PSVR 2 is Horizon: Call of the Mountain, but there are plenty of other games worth looking out for too. This includes multiplayer games like Among Us and Zenith: The Last City, as well as first-person shooters like The Light Brigade. Plenty of already popular games, like No Man's Sky, will also be getting upgrades.

The PSVR 2 will not be backward compatible with PSVR. However, this doesn't mean that the upcoming headset is doomed to have a dry launch period. Some titles will be receiving upgrades, allowing players to take their games to the next generation. This includes No Man's Sky which gets a free upgrade when the headset launches. The game will utilize the PSVR 2's controller to provide a more tactile, immersive experience. Similarly, the realistic sword fighting game Swordsman VR will get a PSVR 2 upgrade in February when Sony's new headset is released.

The stealth horror game Hello Neighbor is also set to receive a VR spinoff, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue, which is set to release just in time for the PSVR 2's release. In addition to utilizing stealth, players will also have to solve puzzles to figure out what their mysterious neighbor is up to. The Dark Pictures Anthology will be receiving a VR spin-off titled The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR. It is a rail shooter that will explore various locations seen in the first four titles of the series. Zenith: The Last City is an MMORPG that has been available in early access on PS VR since 2022. Gamers who already own this title will be able to upgrade to PSVR 2 for free in February next year.

FPS enjoyers haven't been left out in the cold, as they can enjoy the supernatural shooter The Light Brigade. The game features procedurally generated levels that will serve as the battleground as players fight to restore light to the world. FPS fans can also jump into After the Fall which is already available on PS VR and will be receiving an upgrade. It is a co-op shooter that has gamers working together to defeat hordes of monstrous zombies.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated launch titles is Horizon: Call of the Mountain. The upcoming game shifts the focus away from Aloy and instead features a new character named Ryas who is a former Shadow Carja warrior seeking redemption. The game is more than a safari journey through the machine-filled world of Horizon, as gamers will also have access to bow combat. The game is bundled with the headset for gamers who want to jump into the action from day one.

Sony's headset will also be getting plenty of ports from other headsets, including the Quest 2. At launch gamers will be able to play Cities VR: Enhanced Edition, the city-building simulation game that has players tinkering with all the minutiae of urban planning. The colorful Cosmonious High will also be available when the PSVR 2 launches. The game has players attending a high school populated by luridly colored aliens. Another port that many gamers are looking forward to is Among Us, which was released on current VR headsets this month.

Demeo, originally released on the Quest in 2021, is a tabletop-themed survival game that should appeal to fans of Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. For sci-fi fans, there is Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge - Enhanced Edition. Originally released on the Quest, it has gamers play as a Droid Repair Technician in a battle against the First Order. Gamers hoping to work their brain can turn to Tentacular, a physics-based puzzle game that has gamers playing as a tentacled monster helping the inhabitants of an island investigate a strange energy source. With 50 puzzle and action levels, it is certain to keep gamers occupied during the early days of the PSVR 2.
