Each year, Halloween allows gamers to celebrate with either fantastic, spooky-themed events or real life costumes based on their favorite properties. PlayStation is getting in on the festivities with a Halloween-themed sale for PS4 and PS5 games, where fans can score some deals on some appropriately creepy titles for a limited time. Others will celebrate the more traditional way, with some fantastic outfits from all sorts of video games being worn. One PlayStation fan, however decided to be much more creative, and instead of dressing up as one of the characters from the company's franchises, they chose to dress up as Sony's ninth generation console, the PS5.
The PS5 console was released in late 2020, where it launched to much acclaim. While the console has been a pretty big success, the console itself has been an infamous target for scalpers, too. Being such a hot commodity, resellers have been exploiting the large amount of people who weren't able to purchase a PS5, with the console shortage making matters even worse. While some fans haven't been able to buy this console just yet, this one gamer decided to have a good time by dressing up as the elusive console.
A picture of the costume was posted by Reddit user circuitbreaker53, whose brother was at a party and wearing it. The attention to detail to capture the essence of the console is impressive, with an LED light on the sides of the blade representing the PS5 feature, as well as the logo on the front. This costume seems to be based off of the first discless model of the PS5, as it lacks a slot that would represent the disc drive.
The costume was an instant hit in the r/PlayStation subreddit, with many jokes and memes about the PS5 being commented on the post. Many of them revolve around the difficulties that involve obtaining the console itself, some of the comments extending this difficulty to the costume itself being hard to obtain, or even sold out. Others made fun of the PS5's rarity by acting as if they have never seen one, with some feigning ignorance as to what the costume is or pretending to be terrified at its presence.
Suffice to say, many PlayStation fans enjoyed the fan's interpretation of the console. Despite the jabs and barbs at the PS5 console itself, it's definitely a memorable design. This costume only seems to cement the PS5's status as an instantly recognizable piece of hardware.
