About a week ago, a leak was being circulated online that suggested next month's free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers would include the likes of Team Ninja's action-RPG Nioh and Blizzard's dungeon crawler Diablo 3. Now, Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided to step forward to squash that rumor by officially confirming the list of the free games coming to PS Plus members for the month of October 2018.

As seen in the trailer below, the headlining games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in October 2018 are Gun Media and IllFonic's asymmetrical multiplayer horror survival title, Friday the 13th: The Game, and 505 Games and Roll7's futuristic sports video game, Laser League. Not to mention, Sony is also offering a free PS Plus bonus in the form of the Playlink party and quiz show game, Knowledge is Power.

PlayStation Plus subscribers on PS3 aren't being left out of the fun, as Wales Interactive's action-puzzler Master Reboot and the artistically-driven puzzle game by the American indie developer Ty Taylor, The Bridge (which also happens to be a cross-buy for PS4). Also, PS Vita owners will be able to pick up Rocketbirds 2: Evolution and 2064: Read Only Memories at no additional cost, which are both being offered up as PS4 cross-buys as well.

All things considered, it's safe to say that October 2018's free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers aren't necessarily exquisite choices–especially with Friday the 13th: The Game's ability to release new DLC being at a standstill–but they are decent picks that could turn players onto a lot of different genres that they didn't originally expect to enjoy. After all, with September's free games including the likes of Destiny 2 and God of War 3, it would have been difficult for Sony to best last month's efforts due to the bar having been set so high.

Next month's free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers should become available starting on October 2, 2018.
