Microsoft's big play this generation has been its Xbox Game Pass subscription service, with one of the main selling points being its day one games. Xbox Game Pass subscribers are able to get instant, day-one access to a wide range of new releases, which significantly increases its value. Sony's competing PlayStation Now subscription service has stayed away from day one releases until now, with the new PlayStation Now games for March 2022 including its first-ever day one release.

Starting today, PlayStation Now subscribers can check out day one game Shadow Warrior 3. A brand-new FPS game, Shadow Warrior 3 has earned somewhat mixed reviews so far, but it should greatly appeal to fans of the franchise and the genre in general. PlayStation Now subscribers interested in Shadow Warrior 3 will have until July 4 to play the game.

Shadow Warrior 3 is just one of four new PlayStation Now games being added in March 2022. It's joined by Crysis Remastered, the enhanced version of the fan favorite FPS game with remastered graphics and some other modern bells and whistles. Relicta is also available to PlayStation Now subscribers from today on, so anyone looking for a first-person puzzle game should consider giving it a shot.

And finally, the fourth new PlayStation Now game for March 2022 is a bizarre game called Chicken Police - Paint It Red, which is a classic adventure game where all the characters are portrayed as anthropomorphic animals. Crysis Remastered, Relicta, and Chicken Police - Paint It Red do not have announced removal dates, so PlayStation Now subscribers can count on them being available to play on the service for some time to come.

The new PlayStation Now games for March 2022 may only consist of four titles, but featuring day one game Shadow Warrior 3 is still significant. It shows that Sony is starting to experiment with more directly taking on Xbox Game Pass, and it will be interesting to see if PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to look forward to more day-one releases in subsequent months.

There's also the leaked Project Spartacus to keep in mind. While details remain scarce, reliable industry insiders have said that Sony is actively working on an Xbox Game Pass competitor that will supposedly feature a focus on classic games. Whether or not this strategy pays off remains to be seen, but Sony certainly has an extensive library of high-quality titles to pull from.
