Though many gamers enjoy the spectacle, vast open worlds and enhanced graphics of games with a massive, AAA budget, it's no secret that a lot of gaming fans also appreciate the smaller, indie titles out there. As smaller game developers are able to put out their creations more easily, the popularity of indie games has increased, with the genre evolving exponentially, even with its own online marketplaces such as the popular site Itch.io.

While it used to be the case that indie games were more likely to be found on PC marketplaces, the console platform owners have ensured that indie titles can be played on the PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. As indie games are now available on the PlayStation Store, for example, they are subject to some great discounts whenever a sale arises. Now, there's a current sale on the PlayStation Store giving players a discount on over 1,000 indie titles.

There are some popular indie titles available for purchase on the PlayStation Store, perfect for gamers who've heard great things about a game but never had the chance to buy it, or those looking to flesh out their library. Hit games such as the Hotline Miami Collection, and Bastion, are available. The latter in particular is remembered by many indie gaming fans as the beginning of developer Supergiant Games, which then went on to create one of the most popular games in 2020 in Hades.

There are some other popular titles in the sale, including the popular roguelite game Dead Cells, as well as other hit games like Subnautica: Below Zero, various Jackbox Party Packs, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Terraria, and a ton more. Both older and more recent titles like Olli Olli World have made their way to this sale on the PlayStation Store, meaning that for any fan of indie games or for a gamer looking to get into the genre, this sale presents a good opportunity. Last week, the PlayStation Store launched another large sale, entitled the "Essential Picks Sale," which offered up to 75% on games like Battlefield 2042 and Dead by Daylight.

Digital games sales have been known throughout the gaming sphere since the famous Steam Summer Sales began, yet it seems the console platforms are now also able to put out some interesting and well-received games at large discounts. The latest PlayStation Store sales show that Sony is more than willing to give players discounts on some games that could've remained at full price for a while.
