While many PlayStation players are indifferent to trophies, some dedicate themselves to hunting down the digital badges of honor. Platinum is the highest trophy rarity that PlayStation users can obtain, making it the most valuable, though one gamer has shown that some Platinums are laughable easy to acquire.

To get a Platinum trophy on PlayStation, gamers need to unlock every other trophy on the list. For games like Returnal and Hades, this takes dozens of hours and countless runs to pull off. Even the Platinum trophies that are on the easier side, like the one for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, require players to fully complete the game and do all that there is to do. However, while it is rare for a AAA game to have a laughably easy trophy list, some indie games are popular simply because they have easy trophies for gamers to collect.

A video from PlayStation fan and trophy hunter IBadDriverI showscases just how easy it has become to get Platinum trophies. The video begins by highlighting how “trophy games,” titles gamers play just so they can boost their trophy level, have gotten progressively easier. For example, it took four hours to unlock the Platinum trophy for the Hannah Montana: The Movie tie-in game. A little over 12 years later, there are several games that can be Platinumed in under a minute, something IBadDriverI goes on to prove with the rest of their upload.

The player begins with Catch The Bowling Balls, one of the many Breaththrough Gaming titles available for download. Each of these games has a laughably easy Platinum trophy, and the YouTuber proves this by completing Catch The Bowling Balls in 30 seconds. Next up is Sakura Succubus, a visual novel that can be Platinumed in a minute if players choose to skip the text via the settings menu. Quick Mafs, a teaching game for kids, boasts another one-minute Platinum. The final two games are Legends of Talia: Arcadia and Breakthrough Gaming’s Bowling, both of which are finished in around one minute.

In only five minutes, IBadDriverI has earned five full Platinums, unlocking several Gold trophies in the process. As such, their alternate account has flown through the first several trophy levels. The video does an excellent job of spotlighting the current state of PlayStation trophy hunting and the ongoing debate around games like these. Some believe that these titles make hunting trophies pay-to-win, though others argue that they are harmless. Regardless of which side gamers take, the video from IBadDriverI is certainly intriguing.

For PlayStation users who care more about having a lot of trophies than obtaining some rare ones, games such as the ones above can be appealing. With so many easy trophy games now available in the PlayStation Store, speedruns that see players competing to collect the most trophies will likely become more common going forward.
