Frontier Developments has announced that Planet Coaster, their amusement park building simulation game, is going to be making the jump to the recently-revealed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The studio also announced that the game is also going to be getting versions for the PS4 and Xbox One at the same time.

Released back in 2016 for the PC, Planet Coaster is a game that allows players to build and manage their own amusement parks. Roller coasters can be build piece by piece, allowing for a variety of wild custom creations. Players will inevitably design a roller coaster that would result in lethal g-forces in real-life or just have the coaster cars crash into crowds of people, but that's half the fun with these kinds of games.

It was first announced that Planet Coaster would be getting console releases back at the XO19 event last November. Back then, the console releases were planned to be released sometime during Summer 2020, but it's almost certain it was delayed along with many other games because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Frontier Developments hasn't offered any specifics on what the console versions will bring to the table in terms of extra content. All they have said about them is that these ports are "enhanced." Presumably, this means that the console versions will have better graphics and run better than the original PC version. All the better to build your parks, whether they be massive and sprawling or compact yet incredibly detailed.

Planet Coaster will release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X sometime this holiday season, all on the same day. Those who aren't getting the new consoles right away can also play a version of the game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both of which are releasing at the same time as the next-gen versions.
