Fans of the critically acclaimed late 90's Roller Coaster Tycoon will undoubtedly have enjoyed Frontier Developments PLC's latest tycoon management game Planet Coaster. And those players that own Playstation 4 or 5 were most likely happy to know that Sony was giving away Planet Coaster: Console Edition for free as a PS+ monthly game.

But, managing a theme park requires a balance of facilities, thrill rides, and gentle rides. Only by balancing these core features will players be able to attain the title of the best theme park in the world. But, of course, not all gentle rides will help you achieve that title, so players will need to know which ones to add to their theme parks.

10 Radius, Slow-paced Ferris Wheel

Showcase of a an Egyptian-themed Radius Gentle Ride from Planet Coaster: Console Edition

Stats:

  • Excitement: 1.50
  • Fear: 1.00
  • Nausea: 1.80

Undoubtedly, Radius is the most gentle ride in Planet Coaster: Console Edition. As players will notice, it barely has any fear levels, which is great for guests that want to take it slow. Additionally, this gentle ride takes minimal space, so players can put it almost anywhere without sacrificing too much space.

But, as players can imagine, they'll need to pair this gentle ride with a thrill ride, but not all rides are the same, so they should make sure it's one of the best thrill rides featured in Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

9 Free Flyer, Unpredictable Flying Machine

Guests Riding the Gentle Ride Free Fylers on Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.20
  • Fear: 2.48
  • Nausea: 1.90

Based on the classic Paratrooper ride found at many theme parks, the Free Flyer is a great gentle ride to add to any theme park. And this gentle ride is highly-customizable, so players can have fun tweaking Free Flyer until their heart's content.

And due to its near-limitless customization options, players can design Free Flyer to have a Nintendo-esque style, which would go great with a Mario-themed rollercoaster. The only downside of this gentle ride is that it breaks down quite often, so players should have a mechanic always nearby.

8 Teacups, Not The Average Cup Of Tea

Guests Riding the Gentle Ride Teacups from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.70
  • Fear: 2.60
  • Nausea: 1.80

Teacups is a beginner-friendly gentle ride that many players purchase during their first few months as a theme park tycoon since it's cheap (only $900) and offers guests a good level of excitement.

But, this ride has higher than normal (for gentle rides) nausea levels, which means players can expect guests to throw up upon exiting (and sometimes during) the ride. So, new players would do well in learning some beginners tips and tricks about Planet Coaster: Console Edition before adding Teacups to their theme park.

7 The Aeronauts, Ride Into The Sky

The Aeronauts Gentle Ride at a Player-made Theme Park from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.50
  • Fear: 2.59
  • Nausea: 1.58

Frontier Developments PLC did a fantastic job creating The Aeronauts gentle ride since it's near-identical to its real-life counterpart Balloon Race, which the famous Antonio Zamperla designed. This gentle ride is quite popular with the younger guests since it has a decent level of excitement and a low level of nausea.

On top of that, players can customize The Aeronauts with either a Steampunk or Fairy Tale theme. Perhaps the upcoming SEGA theme park will feature a Balloon Race-type ride, but with a steampunk twist similar to the classic SEGA Genesis game Steel Empire.

6 Monte Leone, Old-Fashioned Caterpillar Ride

A Shipwreck-themed Monte Leone Gentle Ride from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.33
  • Fear: 1.81
  • Nausea: 1.30

Monte Leone is quite similar to the Weisshorn gentle ride but doesn't have a roof. This ride is great if players want their theme park to have a family-friendly vibe since it has low levels of fear and nausea.

There are only two real-life counterparts of Monte Leone, one found in Canobie Lake Park and the other in Heritage Park Historical Village. These rides are rare because they've had lots of mechanical failures, which resulted in guests getting injured or killed. Fortunately, Frontier Developments PLC's version is a lot safer for guests.

5 Bumpin Derby, Classic Bumper Kart Action

Bumpin Derby Gentle Ride placed at a Player-made Theme Park from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.88
  • Fear: 2.34
  • Nausea: 1.98

Inspired by the classic 1920s Dodgems or Bumper Car ride, Bumpin Derby is an exceptionally large gentle ride (can accommodate over 30 guests) in Planet Coaster: Console Edition. Additionally, Bumpin Derby has an aesthetically pleasing design, especially when the lights turn on at night.

This gentle ride can fit in well in almost any theme, from Sci-fi (like a Destiny-style rollercoaster and theme park) to a more vintage one. But, it's another gentle ride that requires periodic maintenance, so players should keep a mechanic stationed nearby.

Showcase of the Grand Carousel Gentle Ride from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 3.00
  • Fear: 1.20
  • Nausea: 1.80

A must-have gentle ride, the Grand Carousel will create a family-friendly atmosphere for any theme park. However, the Grand Carousel is a bit different from other gentle rides since guests can stay on the ride as long as they want. The good news is that players can set a ride limit, so everyone gets a chance to ride it.

Unfortunately, despite its family-friendly appeal, vandals (a new feature in Planet Coaster: Console Edition) enjoy sabotaging the ride, so players will need to have a security guard nearby to keep an eye on the ride.

3 Rocktopus, Dance Like An Octopus!

Showcase of the Gentle Ride Roctopus from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.22
  • Fear: 2.04
  • Nausea: 1.40

Rocktopus is an inexpensive yet fun gentle ride, especially for a pirate-themed theme park! This ride spins and bounces guests around while shooting bubbles from the central part of the octopus. These types of rides originated in 1930 when the Everly Aircraft company designed the famous Ride-O-Planes.

But the original octopus-type rides were limited in movement and not as fun as the Roctopus counterpart from Planet Coaster: Console Edition. Additionally, players can customize the color scheme of the octopus, which is a neat feature to include.

2 Hyperspin, A Classic Family Ride

Showcase of the Gentle Ride Hyperspin from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 2.20
  • Fear: 2.10
  • Nausea: 2.50

As players will quickly notice, Hyperspin is a gentle ride that causes many guests to throw up since it has a high level of nausea. However, despite that unfortunate side effect, this gentle ride is cheap and takes up very little space, perfect for players playing the Challenge game mode.

RELATED: The Best Real Life Simulation Games, According To Metacritic

Another downside of Hyperspin is that it can only fit 14 guests, which is quite limited, especially if you don't have many gentle rides. So, players would do well in hiring a couple of entertainers like King Coaster or Foxy to keep guests entertained while they wait.

1 Genie, A Mini-Roller Coaster

Showcase of the Gentle Ride Genie from Planet Coaster: Console Edition.

Stats:

  • Excitement: 3.17
  • Fear: 3.07
  • Nausea: 2.88

Despite being classified as a gentle ride, Genie's stats resemble more like a thrill ride than a gentle one. Nevertheless, due to its high excitement levels, guests will love riding this gentle ride, and while that may be great news, it also means that the queues to ride it will be longer than usual.

That's why players should add lots of extra shops and facilities near this ride, so guests don't become frustrated during their wait. Hopefully, the rumored Ubisoft's theme park will feature a Genie-style ride but with a Rabbids theme!

Planet Coaster is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
