A Plague Tale: Innocence proved to be one of the sleeper hits of 2019. Fans were impressed by the game's unique setting, visuals, and thematic elements. The game is a very linear experience, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. That linearity, however, doesn't preclude the presence of various collectibles scattered about the environment.

Collectibles in A Plague Tale: Innocence are divided into categories. Gifts are one of them, special presents that Amicia can find throughout her journey. Those that can be found are displayed in the player's home in the Chateau d'Ombrage. This handy guide will help track down every last one of them. In total, there are 11 Gifts located in the game.

Chapter I

Gift #1 – The Whistle

Whistle Gift From A Plague Tale Innocence

After the death of Amicia's dog, players will regain control of her at the de Rune estate. Immediately, hang a right and enter the stables. The furthest stall on the right contains a ladder. Climb it, and the Whistle will be directly in front of Amicia. It's sitting on a pile of wooden beams.

Chapter II

Gift #2 – Amulet & Talismans

Amulet & Talismans Gift From A Plague Tale Innocence

At the beginning of Chapter II, players will find themselves at the entrance of a seemingly abandoned town. On the right, players will spot a rotten fruit stand with an orange tarp over it. From there, players should spy a small dock. Go there, and at the very edge of the dock is the Amulet & Talismans sitting on the ground.

Chapter III

Gift #3 – Rosary

In Chapter III, players will eventually enter a church. Walk forward towards the main altar. To the right of it, on a small stone table, lies the Rosary. Simple!

Chapter IV

Gift #4 – Diary Of An Alchemist

Diary Of An Alchemist Gift From A Plague Tale Innocence

In Chapter IV, Amicia and Hugo will approach a stretch of dense farmland. Hugo will run off, wanting to play a game of hide-and-seek. Immediately, BEFORE chasing after him, turn to the right. There's a short path that leads to the river. Follow it, and players will find a wrecked boat and a corpse. Next to the body lies the Diary of an Alchemist.

Chapter V

Gift #5 – Ballastella

Ballastella Gift From A Plague Tale Innocence

Retrieving the Ballastella requires the completion of a puzzle of sorts. The solution to this puzzle begins next to a piece of flaming siege equipment. Then, follow these steps:

  • Tell Lucas to interact with the siege equipment. This will cause the flaming brazier to swing backward and forwards, thus clearing the path ahead of rats.
  • Follow the swinging light source to reach a small stone outcrop.
  • Instruct Hugo to retrieve a wooden stake behind a locked gate. He will crawl underneath a small opening.
  • With the stake in hand, tell Lucas to once again interact with the siege equipment. Repeat Step 1 to make it back to your original position.

Light your wooden stake from the flaming siege equipment. Head slightly left in the direction of the abandoned trebuchet. The flaming stake will clear a path through the rats. Light the bonfire with the sword stuck in it (note the Dark Souls reference). Next to the bonfire lies the Ballastella.

Chapter VI

Gift #6 – Knucklebones

In Chapter VI, Melie will lead the player forward through much of the English encampment. Follow her lead when she takes cover behind a small bar. Instruct Arthur to distract the guard by knocking over the barrel of spears to Amicia's left. Again, follow Melie inside the barracks tent.

WATCH YOUR STEP! Try not to break any glass bottles inside the barracks tent. Doing so will alert the sleeping guards. Follow Melie until she reaches the end of the tent. Here, instead of following her further, turn left. Sitting on the wooden table directly in front of Amicia are the Knucklebones.

Chapter VII

Gift #7 – Vinegar

This particular Gift is very simple to find. After the cutscene where the Chateau d'Ombrage becomes viewable in the distance, follow the linear path up the stone staircase. At the top, turn left. Instruct Melie to lockpick the door to a small shed. Enter it, and find the Vinegar sitting on a table in front of the player.

Chapter VIII

Gift #8 – Alchemical Crucible

In Chapter VIII, there will be a point in the story where Amicia must follow Hugo to the ramparts of the castle. BEFORE ascending the final staircase that leads to the outside, look to your left. On the ground, obscured by some weeds, will be the Alchemical Crucible.

Chapter IX

Gift #9 – Chessboard

This Gift is collected at the very end of Chapter IX. Before opening the doors to the university and ending the level, look directly behind you. Two guards stand underneath a small alcove with their backs turned. Eliminate or distract them. When the coast is clear, go to where the guards were standing. On a table lies the Chessboard.

Chapter X

Gift #10 – Reading Stone

Reading Stone Gift From A Plague Tale Innocence

After the cutscene with Vitalis, follow the linear path with Rodric in tow. A heavily armored enemy will eventually block Amicia's path. Follow the game's advice by utilizing Rodric's special ability for the first time. Enter the next room and repeat the process with the next heavily armored opponent.

Once that's done, look to the right of the chest filled with armor. The Reading Stone can be found sitting on a book cart.

Chapter XII

Gift #11 – Calamus

Calamus Gift From A Plague Tale Innocence

At the beginning of Chapter XII, after freeing the catapult, head up the small hill to the right. Light the bonfire in front of the house. The house itself contains many rats. First, open the door and cast Odoris to clump the rats together. Then, cast Luminosa to eradicate them. Now that the house is free of rats, it's safe to head inside. Sitting on the desk is the Calamus.
