A recent job listing suggests that a sequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem, one of the highest-rated PS5 and Xbox Series X games of last year, could very well be getting a sequel. Asobo Studio has been on a hot streak since 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence, following up that game with the award-winning Microsoft Flight Simulator and a direct sequel that earned even more critical acclaim than its predecessor.

A Plague Tale: Requiem released in 2022 to rave reviews from critics. One of the first next-gen only games (discounting the Nintendo Switch's Cloud port), A Plague Tale: Requiem was praised for its impressive graphics, emotionally-charged story, and innovations on the Plague Tale gameplay formula. It was even nominated for five different awards at The Game Awards 2022.

Despite the success of A Plague Tale: Requiem, there had been some doubt cast on if the studio would be moving forward with a third game any time soon. However, a recent job listing spotted on LinkedIn shows that Asobo Studios is hiring developers for the Plague Team. It's possible that the Plague Team is working on an original IP, but the more likely scenario is that A Plague Tale 3 is on the way.

This isn't the first time that a job listing suggested A Plague Tale 3 could be in development. Earlier this year, Asobo Studio indicated that it was hiring developers for a project that would somehow involve the Plague Tale franchise. Of course, this leaves the door open for the game to be a spin-off or even DLC, so fans should keep that in mind before getting too excited.

If A Plague Tale 3 is in development, it wouldn't be surprising at all considering the reception the first two games received. However, fans shouldn't expect to see much of it any time soon. The next game from Asobo Studio will be Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, launching next year. It's probable that fans won't learn about Asobo's next project, whether it's A Plague Tale 3 or something else entirely, until some time after Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 releases to the masses.

Assuming A Plague Tale 3 is in development, it will definitely be interesting to see where the story goes. A Plague Tale: Requiem's ending had major implications for where the series could go with a third game, but time will tell what the developers ultimately decide to do.

A Plague Tale 3 is rumored to be in development.
