The Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise remains a beloved one to this day. It's quite difficult for anyone who has seen the movie to forget the eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow. The adventures of Jack and his crew were always a delight, as they took viewers on journeys filled with mystery and supernatural occurrences.

Since the swashbuckling pirate lifestyle was a main draw to the films, fighting is inevitable. For these characters, it's an occupational hazard. Pirates have to fight to get what they want, especially when they're up against the authorities. Let's take a look at some of the most heart-pounding fights the movies had to offer.

10 Pirates Vs. Royal Navy At Singapore

In At World's End, Barbossa and his crew head to Singapore to seek the assistance of fellow Pirate Lord Sao Feng in order to defeat Lord Cutler Becket. During their negotiations, the Royal Navy storms the place. The pirates counter them in good coordination, and are able to flee.

Before the escape, though, the battle is explosive and intriguing. The end of the fight keeps viewers glued to their seats in anticipation of what's to come.

9 Jack Sparrow Vs. The Spanish

During their quest to find the fountain of youth in On Stranger Tides, Jack and Barbossa are shocked to see that the Spaniards beat them to the chalices. In an attempt to get it back, they infiltrate their camp. After they retrieved the chalices, the Spanish surround and capture them.

In a bid to escape, Jack cleverly frees himself from his bonds, fights some of the Spanish soldiers and still manages to get away with the chalices. Brilliant!

8 The British Navy Vs. The Spanish Navy Vs. Blackbeard

On Stranger Tides holds plenty of other great fights as well. When Blackbeard and his crew arrive at the cave to obtain the fountain of youth, Barbossa confronts them. He's after Blackbeard to get revenge for his lost leg. They're interrupted by the Spanish Navy, who have arrived solely to destroy the place.

An epic three-way fight broke out between these separate factions. Amid the chaos, Jack fights his way to the fountain and fetches from it.

7 Jack Sparrow Vs. Possessed Henry

In Dead Men Tell No Tales, Salazar manages to capture Henry and possess his body in order to go after Jack Sparrow. The two of them meet again, but with Salazar using a more young and agile body, Jack is at a serious disadvantage.

However, Jack doesn't back down, even managing to hold his own for a considerable amount of time. Eventually, when Salazar takes the trident, he splits from Henry. Jack is able to give Henry an opening, and Henry snaps the trident and breaks every curse at sea.

6 Jack Sparrow Vs. William Turner (Curse Of The Black Pearl)

In typical form, Jack Sparrow bombards his way into the lives of Elizabeth Swann and William Turner, and all their lives changed. Jack and Will's relationship starts in quite the turbulent way, when they clash swords at Will's workshop in Port Royale in Curse Of The Black Pearl.

The two fight on even grounds – until Jack plays like a typical pirate and cheats. Before that, however, their fight is gripping. It shows viewers that Will turner is not just a good-natured blacksmith, but a highly skilled swordsman as well.

5 Jack Sparrow Vs. Angelica

In On Stranger Tides, Jack Sparrow is surprised to hear that he is getting ready to set sail on a journey. Upon investigating, he finds out that there is an imposter posing as him and recruiting sailors.

Jack confronts this imposter, and the two engage in a serious battle with neither one of them letting up. During their fight, the imposter eventually uses a move that gives away her identity as Jack's one-time lover, Angelica.

4 William Vs. Norrington Vs. Jack Sparrow

This fight from Dead Man's Chest ranks as one of the best fights in franchise for a reason. There has never been a better balance between being seriousness and goofing off. The fight begins because each party wants the chest for a different reason.

The fight gets underway with Elizabeth yelling at them at the top of her voice. They continue on to an abandoned building and then on to a giant wheel. Through it all, they never stop clashing swords, as each tries to get the key to the chest for themselves.

3 Jack Sparrow Vs. Davy Jones

During the battle against the armada in At World's End, Jack is already on board The Flying Dutchman, having acquired the chest with the heart of Davy Jones. Upon escaping, Davy Jones spots him and demands that Jack hand over the chest to him.

Jack's refusal leads to a fiery yet funny battle between the two of them. The fight continues until Will and Elizabeth get involved. Eventually, Jack pierces the heart of Davy Jones with an unconscious Will's hand, such that Will technically kills Jones. As such, Will is saved and becomes the captain of The Dutchman.

2 Jack Sparrow Vs. Hector Barbossa

After escaping an island yet again in Curse of the Black Pearl, Jack returns to Isla De Muerta. There, he successfully convinces Barbossa to go along with his plan and fight the Royal Navy.

When Barbossa's men go out to fight, Jack, William, Barbossa and some of Barbossa's men begin to fight as well, with Jack taking on Barbossa himself. Their fight shows just how adept both are at sword fighting. The curse is lifted, and Jack ultimately bests Barbossa with a gunshot to the chest.

1 The Brethren Court Vs. The Armada & The Flying Dutchman

In At World's End, The Brethren Court assembles to fight against Becket's Armada. The Flying Dutchman is the spearhead on the latter's attack, while the Black Pearl leads the pirates' attack. Both ships meet in the middle and begin bombarding each other with cannon fire, while their forces boarded each others' ship.

Both sides give it their all. Against all odds, Davy Jones is vanquished and William became the new Captain of the Flying Dutchman. The two ships turn their attention to Becket's ship and destroy it, leading the Armada to retreat.
