A loyal companion to the end in Pikmin 4, Oatchi is capable of doing many things to help out during the rescue mission. It can attack enemies, transport Pikmin, and even sniff out important items that can be useful out in the field. As such, it is vital that players learn how to keep Oatchi healthy and fighting fit and what to do when it is down and out for the count.
Can Oatchi Die in Pikmin 4?
This is a necessary question to ask, even if it veers a little too much to the dark side for an admittedly colorful series. Thankfully, the answer's no, Oatchi will not perish and be lost forever in Pikmin 4, even if players try their hardest to make that crime happen.
Should Oatchi's health get reduced to zero, the rescue pup will simply be knocked out. At this point, the crew will transport the furry companion to a nearby base, where it will rest and recuperate. Once it has recovered all of its health, Oatchi will then be ready to join back on the adventure.
How to Heal Oatchi
Of course, it is much wiser not to let things spiral until the unfortunate end for Oatchi. Once the pup's health is getting dangerously low, players can look for two reliable methods in which to help it recover.
Using Nectar
Nectar can be used to help Pikmin bloom flowers, increasing their efficiency, but Oatchi is also able to use its properties to help recover health. Direct Oatchi towards Nectar, and it will drink it up, recovering a portion of its health instantly.
There is a surefire way to create Nectar easily. Simply use Ice Pikmin to freeze enemies before defeating them. Vanquishing foes this way will always drop Nectar that can be of use.
Scrummy Bones
If Nectar is nowhere to be found, the other way to heal Oatchi is to use Scrummy Bones, which can be purchased at the Lab or given as rewards from Captain Shepherd. Toss the snack to Oatchi, which will recover a large chunk of its HP.
Even better, feed the pup the snack at full health to increase its maximum HP. This can be done up to five times to ensure Oatchi is never in danger again.
