After 10 long years, Pikmin players can finally get their hands on a brand-new entry in the Pikmin series. Pikmin 4 is officially out now and available to purchase/download. Those familiar with previous Pikmin games will know what to expect with Pikmin 4. Players will control their own customized character as they explore the planet where Olimar and the Rescue Corps all crash-landed.
Finding and rescuing everyone stranded on this planet will not be an easy task, and every stage that players can explore has a lot of ground to cover. With a limited amount of time per day, players may wonder if it is possible to move faster while exploring.
Can You Move Faster?
Starting out, Pikmin 4 players can easily reach wherever they need to go with little difficulty. But as the game goes on and the stages get bigger, players will find that it takes longer to reach various landmarks throughout the area. While players are able to eventually ride their faithful companion, Oatchi, this does not provide a boost to speed, unfortunately. Luckily, it is possible to move faster, but it does take time to unlock.
How to Move Faster
Not long into the story mode of Pikmin 4, players will rescue Russ. Russ is the scientist that Rescue Corps crew. Upon rescuing Russ, players will unlock the Lab. The Lab is a feature that allows players to use all the raw materials they have been gathering to craft items and gear. At the start, players will have a limited amount of gear that they can craft. But as they progress through the story and collect more treasure, Russ will add new gear to the list that players can craft.
As players amass over 6,000 sparklium they will unlock the ability to craft the Rush Boots gear. When equipped, the Rush Boots provide a substantial boost to movement speed. Not only that, but the Rush Boots also increase the movement speed of Oatchi when players are riding him. Unfortunately, the Rush Boots are an expensive piece of gear to craft as they cost 120 raw material.
Are the Rush Boots Worth It?
While at first it may seem like there are better options for spending raw materials, the Rush Boots are worth getting. It may take a couple of in-game days to amass the raw material needed, but the boost to movement speed that they provide is noticeable. The Rush Boots allow players to get across the map quicker while also not making it impossible to still control their character. Beyond the Rush Boots, there are no other ways for players to increase their own speed. The Ultra-Spicy Spray only works on Oatchi and Pikmin.
