In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, players will be required to collect various different types of Pikmin to aid them on their travels. While some of these are more useful than others, they are all (for the most part) required at one point or another in the game. This holds true for the electrically charged Yellow Pikmin as well.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is bringing the Pikmin experience to the Nintendo Switch for the first time, and it's getting fans of the series excited to jump back in. Naturally, the titular Pikmin are a major part of the gameplay and story, so it makes sense that players would want to collect them all as soon as possible.

In the case of the Yellow Pikmin, they are the third one to be made available to the player (after the Red Pikmin and the Rock Pikmin). These allies can use their conductivity to connect electric current and provide power to machines, and they are also immune to electric damage from enemies and hazards.

To unlock the Yellow Pikmin, players first need to reach the Distant Tundra, the third area in the game. The Yellow Pikmin are impossible to miss as they are right at the start of the level while the player is controlling Brittany. After being dropped into the dark cave, progress forward a ways until coming across two Pikmin holding hands, seemingly being electrocuted. Astute players will notice a few other Yellow Pikmin in the ground and a Yellow onion nearby as well.

In order to open the Yellow Onion and unlock more Yellow Pikmin, players will need to pick the other three out of the ground. Sending them over to the side of the first two will see them all link hands, connecting the broken wire and providing power to the light. From here, players should explore the rest of the area, using the Yellow Pikmin to collect the flowers. It's important to note that Yellow Pikmin can be thrown very high, a trait which will come in handy while exploring this level.

Moving on through the rest of the area, players will eventually come face to face with Vehemoth Phosbat, the second boss of the story mode. As this enemy is very sensitive to light, using the newly acquired Yellow Pikmin to charge light bulbs in the area and blind the creature is very helpful. Clearing this boss also unlocks the third playable captain in Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Charlie.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe releases on October 30th for Nintendo Switch.
