Xbox boss Phil Spencer has played the game in development at secretive Microsoft studio The Initiative. Spencer has been incredibly busy visiting developers this past month and recently visited Japan to talk about the Xbox Series X.

Posts on Twitter confirm that The Initiative's game is now in a playable state. Drew Murray, the design director at the Microsoft developer, said that the team was "fortunate" that Spencer visited the studio to talk about the plans for Xbox and to "get his hands on the sticks and experience the game in action." Spencer retweeted Murray's post and said that he had a "great time down at the studio playing and talking to the team" and thanked the developer for "the opportunity to play."

The response to the tweets from Xbox fans has been huge. Microsoft now owns several game developers, such as The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian Entertainment and Hellblade: Senua's Saga developer Ninja Theory, but The Initiative is one that fans don't know much about. The developer is incredibly new and has been making some huge hires with former Uncharted and God of War developers joining the team. With that much talent working on the game, it's unsurprising that Spencer had such a good time playing it.

Fans have also been trying to find out more about the game by looking at the reflection in Murray's glasses. There is some sort of blue light in the reflection but fans can't really see anything. It just shows how much they'd like an official announcement and also how excited Xbox fans can get. Murray also joked "Good effort in trying to get me fired" but didn't confirm anything about The Initiative's game.

If Spencer is able to play The Initiative's game, then an official announcement could potentially be coming soon. Another Spencer tweet from last week had some fans wondering if The Initiative's game could be announced at E3 2020. Microsoft will likely share more information about Xbox Series X games at the event and The Initiative's new game could be part of that.

That could also mean that Microsoft's E3 2020 event is hugely exciting for fans. There is also a new RPG in development at Obsidian Entertainment and that could be revealed at the event. More information about the Xbox Series X such as its release date and price could also be announced.
