Phasmophobia, a very popular 4-player co-op horror game, is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and even PS VR2. At the moment, Phasmophobia is only available for PC players, as the title is still in Early Access, so console gamers missed the chance to play one of the best ghost-hunting games ever, but that will soon change.

Released in Early Access back in 2020, Phasmophobia became a popular co-op horror title over the years. In the game, which is described as psychological horror by the developers, players team up in groups of up to four people to hunt ghosts using special equipment for finding paranormal activities. Right now, the game has 96% positive reviews on Steam, and it’s said to offer a truly terrifying experience for gamers with high levels of immersion. It currently features 10 locations and 20 unique ghosts that will make each investigation feel unique.

Phasmophobia will release for consoles in August 2023, according to the new trailer revealed in the Xbox Games Showcase Extended. PS VR2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S will get the title, which will skip PS4 and Xbox One. This release will come with a few interesting features, such as optional crossplay, allowing gamers to decide whether they want to play with their friends on other platforms or not. The game will not leave Early Access, though, and will continue to be developed until it releases its version 1.0 on both PC and consoles.

The presence of the game on the PlayStation VR2 sounds like a perfect match. Phasmophobia has a strong emphasis on immersion, and people have been playing Phasmophobia with VR support on consoles for quite some time. So, it’s only natural that Sony’s platform will offer this experience to non-PC gamers when broadening its user base.

A console release is not the only important event on the Phasmophobia roadmap, though. The devs behind Phasmophobia recently talked about the Progression 2.0 update, too. The game, which is still in version 0.8, will release the 0.9 update in July (known as Progression 1.0), and then the 0.9.1 in the third quarter of the year (Progression 2.0). These new updates are set to overhaul equipment upgrades and the rewards system, offer new options, and add even more equipment to hunt ghosts, including a sound recorder. Version 1.0 of Phasmaphobia is also set for 2024, finally leaving Early Access and offering the full experience to gamers, which will add more ghosts, events, locations, and equipment.

Phasmophobia is available now on PC and set to release in August 2023 for PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S.
