Phasmophobia players can access the professional difficulty after they reach level 15. This is the highest difficulty in the game, and it comes with a number of features. There is no setup phase at this difficulty, so players can be attacked as soon as they enter the house. Players don't receive an insurance refund to cover lost items, sanity drops 100% faster than usual, and the hunt begins with the power off.

To make all of these extra stressors worth it, the professional difficulty triples cash rewards and experience points. The different maps in the game offer certain advantages and disadvantages to playing on professional. Some maps should be the default choice for any player wanting to run a professional hunt.

8 The Asylum

Asylum map in Phasmophobia

The Asylum is the largest map that Phasmophobia currently has to offer. It features two levels of massive hallways with rooms lining either side. Since it is so large, the Asylum is often the most difficult map in which to find the haunted room.

With Sanity draining at double the normal rate, and a long walk to turn on the power, players can easily risk being hunted by the ghost before they even find its location. Possibly the most daunting thing about The Asylum is how long it can take to bring in the necessary equipment. Even full-sized teams can struggle to establish themselves in the game's resident labyrinth.

7 Brownstone High School

Brownstone High School is one of two medium-sized maps in Phasmophobia. It features classrooms of varying sizes, and a large open gymnasium in the center. The power supply is normally located behind one of the two staircases on either side of the school.

While not as large as The Asylum, Brownstone still suffers from its size. The amount of rooms makes finding the bone a chore, unless the team gets a lucky spawn out in the open. Players can also have trouble finding their way to and from the truck if the power blows. The Parabolic Microphone is a useful tool in Brownstone, since straight hallways comprise most of the map.

6 The Prison

The Prison is the easiest of the larger maps to fully clear, due to it being separated into two different cell blocks. There is also a large cafeteria room where players can often hear noises.

The ghost does occasionally spawn in the side rooms lining the walls to either cell block. After turning the power on, teams can split up and find the ghost's location with the thermometer with ease. However, this map can still be harder to clear than some others in professional hunts.

5 Edgefield Streethouse

Edgefield house

The Edgefield Streethouse is deceptively large compared to Phasmophobia's other small maps. The upstairs wraps around the house and boasts six bedrooms, creating an intensely claustrophobic environment. This makes it nearly impossible to kite ghosts, especially those that can travel through walls.

Edgefield's upstairs is actually its greatest weakness. The first floor of the house is mostly open, with a door to the basement directly in the center. A piano is located near the garage, and the ghost can manipulate it regardless of where the haunted room is. The circuit breaker is in a far corner in the basement, which creates awkward situations if the ghost is haunting upstairs.

4 Grafton Farmhouse

Grafton farmhouse in phasmophobia

The lesser of the two farmhouses, the Grafton Farmhouse is essentially a square base with a lackluster upstairs. That being said, its simplicity does make it an ideal location for professional hunts. The bedrooms clustered together downstairs make great hiding spots.

This map has multiple circuit breaker spawns, which make cutting the power a breeze. Teams can easily split up and cover the entire house in seconds. Meanwhile, the voodoo dolls allow for huge profits at the end of pro hunts.

3 Ridgeview Roadhouse

Ridgeview in Phasmophobia

The Ridgeview Roadhouse is the most straightforward map in Phasmophobia. It's set up like a fairly normal house, with a simple upstairs and a large linear downstairs. Players have plenty of room in this house to kite the ghost during a hunt. They also have closets available both upstairs and downstairs for hiding.

Two circuit breakers spawn in the garage and basement, both a short walk from the front door. The only downside to Ridgeview is that the haunted room is often in the garage or the upstairs hallway, leaving much of the house untouched by players. Video Cameras are useful in these areas, since they are open enough for wide shots.

2 Tanglewood Streethouse

Tanglewood in Phasmophobia

Tanglewood is the smallest map in the game, making it a near-top choice for professional hunts. This house has an interesting but clear layout, with all of the bedrooms located on the left side by the front door. Players can often find the Ouija Board in a closet in the very first bedroom on the left. The basement is in the center of the house, and a laundry room connects the garage to the kitchen.

Due to this map's small size, players need minimal equipment to fully clear a hunt. Tanglewood's size has players begging for more small-scale maps. This makes Tanglewood a low-risk, high-reward map, and a great option for pro hunts.

1 Bleasdale Farmhouse

Bleasdale in Phasmophobia

Ghost hunters should choose the Bleasdale Farmhouse for professional hunts whenever available. There is a circuit breaker located directly by the front door under the stairs. This means that players can immediately turn on the power when they enter the house.

Having power allows the temperature inside to stabilize, and makes the haunted room much easier to find. With the added cash bonuses from the voodoo dolls, this map is the perfect way to experience Phasmophobia at its highest difficulty.
