Ghost hunters everywhere can warm up their EMF readers, as Phasmophobia promises new challenges within an abandoned prison courtesy of the addition of its latest medium-scale map. Having been alluded to via the developer roadmap, the prison serves as a far cry from Phasmophobia's existing maps in that the latest of the ghosts' haunts presents its own unique challenges in an all new setting.

While seemingly less chaotic at first glance, the potential distance between clues across two stories will be certain to punish ill-equipped players. In being the latest contract and one of the more expensive as far as necessary equipment goes, the prison will constantly remain available to take as a contract for the foreseeable next few patches. This allows everyone to experience the newly released map, fresh from the prison's beta-testing period.

Development from Kinetic Games remains as steady as it does active, with several plans in mind for Phasmophobia. Further down the line, fans can hope to see plans regarding additional new levels, namely an apartment and a mansion materialize, as well as additional audio cues, mechanics and more. The dedicated pace of the independent team continues to hold the interest of its fans and well-deservedly so.

Thanks to Phasmophobia's massive following on Twitch and other streaming platforms, this ghost-hunting experience doesn't seem to be running out of momentum anytime soon as the demand for new content persists. Although the game's extension of its early access period has been announced, the decision to do so goes warranted as Phasmophobia's success has turned its developers' attention towards improving mechanics as well as introducing new content.

Phasmophobia is available now on PC.
