Highlights

- Despite their popularity in fantasy, dwarves have yet to appear as Personas in the Persona games, making them a strong contender for inclusion in Persona 6.
- The Persona series has the potential to introduce new and exciting Personas, such as the Welsh fairy Knockers and the iconic mythological figure Medusa, in Persona 6.
There are a surprising amount of quality demons from the Shin Megami Tensei series that have yet to make their debut in the Persona games. With the Persona subseries being the biggest draw for Shin Megami Tensei in terms of mainstream appeal, having a demon appear as a Persona will expose it to more people. Most of its demons represent various figures in mythology and folklore, so there are nearly endless sources of inspiration for them. It should be no surprise that many of them are equally well-suited to Persona 6.
While Shin Megami Tensei is a long-running series, its popularity truly kicked off with the Persona 3 remake, and the Persona series in general. However, there are far more titles under the franchise umbrella. Some of the more notable examples of SMT's other branches include:
- Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
- Devil Survivor
- Devil Summoner, including the Soul Hackers and Raidou Kuzunoha games
- Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2
These games have introduced several exclusive demons, and hopefully Persona 6 can incorporate a few more of them.
Lham Dearg is a Powerful Option For Persona 6
The Lham Dearg, also known as Ly Erg, are Scottish fey who take the form of soldiers. By raising their bloodied hand, they challenge those who cross them to duel. condemning them to death. The Lham Dearg would fit well into the Strength arcana in the Persona games due to its love of battle, shown by its exclusive use of physical attacks in most appearances. For a demon with few appearances so far, it would make an excellent Persona.
Dwarves Haven't Been in Persona Yet Despite Being Fantasy Mainstays
Dwarves are some of the most classic creatures in all of fantasy, so it shouldn't be much of a shock that they ended up being the source of a recurring demon in Shin Megami Tensei. However, the Dwarf has yet to other well-known creatures like the Ghoul and Unicorn to become a Persona. Such a memorable figure can't be left out forever, though. The Dwarf's could be a shoo-in for Persona 6 thanks to its fame.
With the Persona subseries being the biggest draw for Shin Megami Tensei in terms of mainstream appeal, having a demon appear as a Persona will expose it to more people.
Knockers Are a Common Early-Game SMT Foe, But Not In Persona Games
A Welsh fairy that alternately helps and plays tricks on miners, Knockers are a common sight in Shin Megami Tensei. They have appeared in several games, almost always as a demon encountered in an early area. If the Knocker were to appear in Persona it would almost definitely be as an entry-level Persona. Other classic early-demons-turned-Personas like Pixie and Slime have shown that is nothing to be ashamed of, so Knocker could be next on that list.
Shin Megami Tensei Still Has Several Jack Frost Variants to Add to Persona
Jack Frost is Atlus' mascot, and is easily its most popular demon, so much that several demons based on it have been recruitable allies in Shin Megami Tensei games. While some like Black Frost have made it onto Persona, there are many that have yet to do so. The heroic Frost Ace, armored Demonee-Ho, and Power Rangers-esque Frost Five are prime examples of such. The Frosts are such fun demons that Persona 6 could benefit from adding a few more.
Persona 6 Could Finally Bring the Famous Medusa to Persona
Medusa is one of the most widely-known mythological figures in pop culture, including the Shin Megami Tensei series, although the gorgon has yet to make it to Persona. She feels like one of the biggest examples of a name missing from the series, especially after being a boss in Shin Megami Tensei 4 and its sequel. Depending on the theme of Persona 6's party Personas, there may be a good argument for Medusa to be the signature Persona of a new party member.
The Persona games have enjoyed a steady supply of new Personas thanks to the other Shin Megami Tensei games, and there's still so many more that can be added. Whether they're at the beginning of the game, or a new endgame option, new Personas are always an exciting sight. Persona 6 has several excellent options to add to the next game's roster.
