As Persona 5: Royal's protagonist, Joker cannot be removed from the party at any point. This means that keeping him properly equipped is essential, regardless of what team composition players are making use of. This guide will cover the best equipment available for Joker.

Persona 5: Royal has several different ways to acquire new gear, such as finding it in dungeons, purchasing it from Untouchable, or even fusing Personas into items to create powerful new gear. This guide will explain where to find, or how to make (in some cases), the best equipment Joker can make use of.

Best Weapons for Joker

Arsene's Cane/Great Thief Stick

persona 5 joker arsene

A surprisingly useful weapon throughout much of the game, Arsene's Cane is a weapon that can inflict any status effect at random when attacking the enemy. This includes powerful effects like Freeze or Brainwash, which can disrupt the enemy and provide the Phantom Thieves with opportunities to press the advantage or make use of recovery skills. The low chance of the effect activating means it won't be doing this reliably, though the chance is always there. This weapon is created by sacrificing Arsene via the Electric Chair, which becomes available once the route to Madarame's treasure has been secured.

The Great Thief Stick can be created by sacrificing Arsene via the Electric Chair during a fusion alarm and has 20 more attack power than Arsene's Cane along with a higher chance of inflicting status effects, making it a fantastic weapon option for Joker. Players hoping to craft this should engage in plenty of combat, as fusion alarms can be triggered by repeatedly winning battles while exploring. They can also be forcibly triggered using Chihaya's Celestial Reading once her confidant rank reaches 8.

Performing the Itemization fusion for either of these weapons requires a Black Kogatana.

Punish Dagger

In terms of raw damage and accuracy numbers, the Punish Dagger is the best available outside of New Game +. Sold at Untouchable starting on 1/9, this dagger boasts 316 attack and 98 accuracy, making it easily strong enough to outperform the other daggers available at this point in the game.

Tyrant Pistol/Tyrant Pistol EX

Persona 5 Lucifer Stats

One of two Pistols that can be created for Joker via Itemization, the Tyrant Pistol has 350 attack, 85 accuracy, and grants +10 to Joker's Magic Stat when equipped. This makes it excellent for builds using lots of offensive magic, while also acting as a great general-purpose pistol. It is created by executing Lucifer using the Electric Chair.

During a fusion alarm, executing Lucifer with the Electric Chair will instead produce the Tyrant Pistol EX, which has 370 attack and grants +15 to Joker's Magic Stat, making it a flat upgrade compared to the basic Tyrant Pistol.

Nataraja/Nataraja EX

Personal 5 Royal Metatron

A fantastic alternative to the Tyrant Pistol, the Nataraja is another pistol that can be created via Itemization. This pistol is created by executing Metatron with the Electric Chair and has 330 attack power with 85 accuracy. It also provides Joker with a +5 bonus to all stats while equipped, making it a fantastic general-purpose pick that can slot into any play style.

During a Fusion Alarm, this Itemization will produce the Nataraja EX instead, which has 350 attack power and boosts Joker's stats by +6 instead. Much like other Fusion Alarm weapons, the Nataraja EX is a straight upgrade over the original Nataraja.

Paradise Lost/Paradise Lost R

Persona 5 Royal_Satanael_Sinful Shell

Joker's best possible weapon is entirely inaccessible on a first playthrough, but persistent players will find Paradise Lost well worth the wait. This dagger boasts 325 attack power with 92 accuracy, allowing Joker to dish out tons of damage with his melee attacks. It also has a powerful curse damage-reducing effect, making Joker excellent at tanking hits from curse element attacks.

To create Paradise Lost, players will need to execute Satanael using the Electric Chair, though getting hold of Satanael in the first place is no easy feat, and requires players to have entered New Game Plus.

Of course, an even stronger variant of this weapon becomes available during Fusion Alarms. Paradise Lost R has 340 attack power and 98 accuracy, so taking the time to wait for a Fusion Alarm will certainly pay off.

Best Accessories for Joker

SP Adhesive 3

tae takemi p5 Cropped

An excellent accessory for navigating Palaces and the depths of Mementos is the SP Adhesive 3. This is an accessory that can be purchased from Tae Takemi's Clinic, though the price means it may be best to wait until her Confidant hits rank 8 and players gain access to her discount. In earlier stages of the game, the weaker SP Adhesive 1 and SP Adhesive 2 can also prove very useful and are also obtained from Takemi's Clinic.

The SP Adhesive restores 7% of the equipped character's max SP each turn during battle. This can effectively eliminate the need to leave the dungeon due to running out of SP, allowing players to push forward and clear dungeons far more quickly, saving time for other activities in Joker's busy schedule.

Even in boss fights, this accessory proves very useful, allowing Joker to recover SP without wasting somebody's turn using an item, making it easier to unleash powerful skills repeatedly against bosses.

Regent/Regent R

persona 5 treasure demon

Regent is a powerful accessory that grants +3 to strength while also casting Tarukaja on the equipped character at the start of the battle, boosting their attack power for three turns. This accessory is obtained by Itemizing the Treasure Demon of the same name, which can be found in Madarame's Palace as a guaranteed encounter, as well as being an encounterable demon throughout the Palace and in Mementos.

Itemizing Regent during a Fusion Alarm provides the Regent R accessory, which grants +5 strength and the same attack boost effect.

Players who successfully clear the bonus boss fight against Caroline and Justine should consider equipping the Victory Cup as an alternative to this item during dungeon exploration, as it fully restores HP and SP after every fight. Of course, by the time players defeat Caroline and Justine they've likely bested the toughest encounters this game has to offer.

Emperor's Charm/Emperor's Charm R

A fantastic replacement for Regent/Regent R in the late game, the Emperor's Charm provides +5 Endurance and casts Matarukaja on the party at the start of the fight, applying a three-turn attack boost to the entire team. It is obtained by Itemizing Emperor's Amulet, a Treasure Demon that first appears in Shido's Palace and can then be found in the Sheriruth area of Mementos after the Palace is completed.

Best Armor for Joker

Bloodied Capote

skeletal bull fighting from persona 5 royal

As an easily accessible piece of armor from as early as the end of Madarame's Palace, the Bloodied Capote can be acquired by executing Matador with the Electric Chair during a Fusion Alarm. It has 130 Defense, 20 Evasion, and boosts the wearer's Agility by +6. This means that the wearer can act sooner in combat, hit with greater accuracy, and dodge attacks more frequently.

Tantric Oath/Tantric Oath R

persona_5_satan

When it comes to armor, these two are the best available for Joker in terms of stats. The Tantric Oath, created by Itemizing Satan, provides 325 defense and 18 evasion, while also greatly reducing damage from all magical attacks. This makes it a fantastic piece of armor for Joker, and indeed for the other male party members too, assuming players are able to get hold of Satan. He becomes available when the Judgment Confidant is completed.

Performing this Itemization during a Fusion Alarm provides the Tantric Oath R, which has 350 defense, 18 evasion, and the same magic reduction effect.

Persona 5 Royal is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
