The term "Hierophant" is derived from the Greek words "Hieros", which means "Sacred", and "Phainein", which means "Reveal". As one would expect from the etymology, this term is used to describe religious figures who study the past and have a relationship with a higher power. As such, it is used for the tarot card that pertains to clandestine holy knowledge, obedience to greater beings, and a connection to the divine.

Although Berith is a demon written about in the grimoire known as The Lesser Key of Solomon, he is not an evil monster, despite being a known liar. He has powers of divination and transmutation, which he can offer to those who summon him...if he wants.

Some references say that he was once a prince among the Cherubim, a choir of angels. In battle, this level 9 demon can use lightly damaging physical attacks and has a couple of physically-oriented buffs to aid the party. They can be fused from Incubus and Jack-o'-Lantern for ¥5,959.

As one can glean from their winged form, they possess a moderately damaging Wind skill, though their heavy physical one is often more potent.

Anzu, the level 25 persona, also has an automatic skill that prevents them from being afflicted with the "Forget" status condition. They can be formed from Black Ooze and Matador for ¥25,255.

immortal buddhist monk in the hierophant arcana.
  • Cheapest Fusion Recipe: Isis and Sui-ki

They can unleash a severe Gun-type attack that has a high chance of dealing critical damage. This level 52 persona can be called upon by polymerizing Girimehkala and Hell Biker for ¥101,260.

Additionally, he can fully heal an ally with the Diarahan support skill for only 50% of its usual SP cost thanks to his Savior Bloodline trait. He can be summoned by fusing Ganesha and Jatayu for the price of ¥163,468.

1 Kohryu

celestial golden dragon from chinese mythology in the hierophant arcana.
  • Cheapest Fusion Recipe: Seiryu, Byakko, Suzaku, and Genbu
  • Money Required: ¥191,666

This level 76 shining yellow dragon is said to be the most powerful out of all Hierophant Arcana personas as well as all of the celestial beasts and presides over the element of earth in Chinese lore. In their Persona 5 Royal incarnation, Kohryu possesses some of the most devastating Psychic skills and tactics in the whole game. In addition to having heavy and severe attacks from this element, they have some passive skills that multiply their efficiency in this regard.

Two of these are the Psy Amp skill, which strengthens Psychic attacks by a sizable 50%, and the one known as Spell Master, which halves the SP cost of all magic attacks, allowing this mighty heavenly drake to unleash an untold number of fierce telekinetic assaults. Before one can summon them, however, the player will need to max out their social link with Sojiro Sakura, who is the confidant for the Hierophant Arcana. Following this, Kohryu can only be fused by merging the personas that represent the other four celestial beasts: Seiryu, Byakko, Suzaku, and Genbu. This will come at the cost of ¥191,666.

Persona 5 Royal is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
