While fans are excited to see Persona 4 Golden revived on the PC, some are hoping to see the game on another console. With the game's sequels Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal on the PlayStation 4, players want Atlus to create a port of Golden that will allow all three games to be played on the same console.
With the new Steam edition of Persona 4 Golden, new and old fans alike have been able to enjoy the game on the computer. The golden version of Persona 4 came out in October 2012, and since then, fans have seen the investigation team embark on other adventures in the forms of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Persona Q, and Persona Q2. However, fans would like to play through their original Golden game in another format.
Since Persona 4 Golden came out on PC, players have been hoping to see the game receive a port for the PS4 as well. Fans have taken to Twitter to discuss this. Since Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal have been released on PS4, many people who have those games would like to have them all grouped together on the same console. The Persona 5 games also attracted new fans to the Persona series, so they may prefer to continue their journey into the games on a familiar console.
Persona 4 Golden releasing on PC also shows that Atlus is willing to branch out the series to other platforms. Until this point, the main part of the Persona franchise has been exclusive to PlayStation consoles, which is one of the reasons that fans have had a lot of difficulty advocating for Persona 5 on the Nintendo Switch.
While some spin-off adventures like the Persona Q games were released for other consoles like the Nintendo 3DS, the numbered games in the main series have all been released on PlayStation console. Since Persona 4 Golden has been ported to a non-PlayStation system, it makes sense that Atlas would be more likely to port the game to a newer PlayStation system. However, Atlus has not publicly commented on porting Persona 4 Golden to any other system.
Persona 4 Golden's recent PC release is giving fans hope for a full-on revival of the game series. While it's uncertain if Persona 4 Golden will be ported again, this PC version shows that the main series may branch out from Sony systems.
