The recent PC Gaming show displayed a plethora of new games coming to storefronts across the platform. Yet, it was the announcement of the Persona 4 Golden PC port that got everyone's attention. Now that a day has passed since officially launching, some have found a troubling issue.

Coming just 24 hours after players returned to the rural Japanese town of Inaba, a nasty bug has caused some ire. The core problem that is plaguing the port is through the game's cutscenes. Players are reporting severe stuttering and lag during most of the game's cinematics.

Not long after launch, which actually happened before the announcement, a Reddit thread was started with those calling out the issue. While reports vary, many players state that this issue runs throughout the game and not just the opening. According to Gamepur, many have taken to attempting hotfixes to remove the bug. The only surefire solution is by capping the games framerate to 30 FPS via the Nvidia Control Center. While this fixes the cutscene issue, it ultimately limits the games framerate throughout.

Some have linked the issue to the inclusion of Denuvo Anti-Piracy measures that have a long history of dragging down a game's performance. Just recently Doom Eternal became the focus of a review bombing effort after an update introduced Denuvo, which was promptly removed in the next patch.

While certain players were quick to thrown Persona 4 Golden into a list of bad port jobs, a prominent PC modder came out to praise the release as a solid effort. Peter "Durante" Thoman is a famous modder who is best known for fixing PC ports including Dark Souls and Deadly Premonition. In his port analysis write up on IGN, Durante praises the port acknowledging a good job done in bringing the game from the PlayStation Vita. It's worth reading the full technical report, but it appears that the issues around the cutscenes are likely just a bug.

The release of Persona 4 Golden on PC, despite the early leak, has been greatly praised by fans. Persona 4 Golden was an enhanced version of the 2008 PlayStation 2 JRPG. Persona 4 Golden launched on the PlayStation Vita in 2012 and until yesterday, was only available on that platform. With Persona 4 Golden now on PC, fans are excited for more of the Atlus catalog to make their way over. Here's hoping that the cutscene bug is fixed soon.

Persona 4 Golden is available now for PC and PS Vita.
