Highlights

  • Persona 3 Reload will feature special time-limited scenes called Link Episodes, allowing players to bond with male teammates, but missing the deadline means missing out on the rest of the events.
  • To avoid missing these scenes, players should hang out with the characters as soon as they contact the main character with an invite.
  • The time window for these events has not been specified, which may cause frustration if it's too tight, unlike Persona 5 Royal which provided warnings and a longer timeframe to complete similar events.

Persona 3 Reload’s producer Ryota Niitsuma recently revealed that the upcoming game has several scenes that may be easily missable by some players. The remake is eagerly awaited by fans of the franchise, as Persona 3 is regarded as one of the best games in the series, but it seems that players will need to be careful in case they are completionists.

Ever since the announcement of Persona 3 Reload, fans have been eager to know what’s going to change beyond graphics. So far, it was revealed that P3R will gain new mechanics from Persona 5, adding something similar to the popular Baton Pass, and that there’s more story content coming up. However, some gamers may lose a bit of this content if they are not careful.

According to a recent interview that Ryota Niitsuma gave to Famitsu (translated by Noisy Pixel), Persona 3 Reload will have new Link Episodes, which are special time-limited scenes with characters. These scenes were created to allow the player to bond with male teammates, as they originally did not have Social Links (which are akin to Persona 5’s Confidants) in Persona 3. However, in case a gamer misses the deadline and loses one of these scenes, they won’t be able to progress on them any longer, potentially missing the rest of the events. Niitsuma affirmed that the best way to avoid missing out on these special scenes is by hanging out with these characters as soon they contact the main character with an invite.

Persona 3 Reload SEES Group Shot

The producer did not say how long the time window for the events will be, though, which will potentially determine if this design decision may cause frustration or not. While games like Persona 5 Royal lock the entire post-game depending on whether the player maximized one of their Confidants, a potentially tight schedule in Persona 3 Reload’s situation may make these events even easier to miss. As a comparison, in Persona 5 Royal, players had the whole game to max out their friendship with the specific character and got many warnings before the deadline.

Persona 3 Reload is set to release in February 2024, and its potential success opens the door for even more remakes. So far, fan speculation about a potential Persona 4 remake makes sense, but Atlus has not divulged any solid information yet. So, fans should keep an eye open for more information about the upcoming Persona 3 Reload and potential more games of the franchise.

Persona 3 Reload releases February 2, 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
