Persona 3 Reload features a series of enemies that constantly increase in power. From the moment the player begins their journey up and through Tartarus, it is apparent that each new floor is designed to push the party to – and past – its limits. This is never more apparent than when players reach Persona 3 Reload's special enemy encounters.

While these events take various forms, one of the toughest is known as Formidable Shadows.Steel Gigas is the first of these encounter types, which provide players with the chance to fight an extremely overpowered enemy while exploring an otherwise basic floor. As a Formidable Shadow, Steel Gigas presents a challenge more on par with minibosses like P3R's Will O' Wisp Raven or Disturbing Dice. Luckily, this guide will explain exactly how players can handle this new enemy with relative ease.

The Best Changes In Persona 3 Reload

While faithful to the 2006 JRPG classic, Atlus' Persona 3 Reload still implements plenty of changes, most of which are great.

While it is not necessary, if players struggle to defeat Steel Gigas with a three-person party, they can wait until May 23rd for Akihiko's return. This will be even more helpful when playing Persona 3 Reload at higher difficulties .

Steel Gigas is weak to Electricity

  • Steel Gigas is weak against all Electricity-based attacks. Players will want to use the Zio spell, which is available early through the Pixie and Lilum Personas.
  • Technically, Steel Gigas is not resistant to any attack. However, its incredibly tough exterior seems to significantly lessen the damage done against it.

Make sure to add Personas to your inventory through Persona 3 Reload 's Shuffle Time mechanic. This is one of the best ways to ensure you always have the right spell to target a shadow's weakness.

How to Beat Steel Gigas in Persona 3 Reload

P3R-Steel-Gigas-Weak-1

Formidable Shadows:

Steel Gigas is the first 'Formidable Shadow' players will encounter in Persona 3 Reload. These special shadows are far more powerful than the traditional shadows encountered in Tartarus. They are easily distinguished by a red, glowing aura that swirls around the body of a shadow as it slides along the floor of the labyrinth.

As a Formidable Shadow, Steel Gigas has a much larger health pool, and also does significantly more damage. Remember, however, that they are essentially optional bosses. To engage one in combat, the player must strike the shadow, the same as any other.

General Strategy:

  • The 'All-Out Attack' strategy works well here, despite the fact that only one party member will be able to take advantage of Steel Gigas' weakness. Because the Steel Gigas is alone, the player should be able to easily knock them down at least once every round, claiming one 'All-Out Attack' each time.
  • Yukari, if leveled up, can use Sukunda on the Steel Gigas, which will lower its accuracy and evasion abilities for three rounds. This will help ensure that the player character will be less likely to miss when aiming for the weakness.
  • Yukari should also be used as a healer. Make sure to use Dia and Media as needed.
  • Junpei, and possibly Akihiko, can act as offensive support. Akihiko will have electric attacks which will make the fight far easier, but he is not necessarily needed to win at any difficulty level.
