Two of the big names working on the upcoming classic JRPG remake Persona 3 Reload have confirmed that it will be missing some content many fans were hoping for. The Atlus title got its long-awaited official announcement at the recent Xbox Games Showcase.

Persona 3 Reload is the remake that fans of the series have been asking about for some time now. The Xbox Games Showcase finally gave some impressive footage of the title, with a style that seems like it will please both fans of the original and new fans who discovered the franchise through Persona 5. It may not make every Persona 3 fan happy, however, after it was recently revealed that the game won't come with all the content some were expecting.

The reveal of Persona 3 Reload's missing content comes via a recent interview between IGN and the remake's producer Ryota Niitsuma along with director Kazuhisa Wada. In the interview, it is announced that Persona 3 Reload will focus specifically on remaking the elements that were available in the original release of the game for PlayStation 2 back in 2006. Niitsuma told IGN, "We don't have the FES and Portable contents included. We wanted to really genuinely work on recreating the Persona 3 experience."

Persona 3 Reload New Cast

The FES content is known for including an epilogue in which the players control the popular character Aigis. The Portable content most notably added the option for the player to choose a female protagonist rather than the male protagonist who was the only choice in the original version of the game. Picking the female protagonist alters certain things within the story, such as Persona 3's limited social links and Igor's assistant being changed from Elizabeth to Theodore. There are also two extra difficulties added to the Portable content that will apparently not be available in Persona 3 Reload.

It's unlikely that the decision to omit the content from FES and Portable will be a deal-breaker for most. The lack of a playable female protagonist along with the extra difficulties will certainly be missed by many legacy fans of the game, but overall, if the core gameplay of the original title is maintained in Persona 3 Reload while being updated in the right places along with the visual buff, most players will more than likely look the other way. The new look at Tartarus suggests Atlus is taking Persona 3 Reload in the right direction.
