In Persona 3 Reload, players will encounter a wide range of enemies while scaling the massive tower/labyrinth known as Tartarus. This region serves as Persona 3 Reload's main area for combat, and will constantly push the party to its limits with its ever-evolving list of enemy types. And while the vast majority of shadows in Tartarus are basic enemy types that require minimal strategy to defeat, there are a few that require a more thought-out solution.

Jotun of Power is one of these shadows that present a bigger challenge to the party, as it belongs to the 'Formidable Shadows' subclass of enemies. While not as tough as the border-guarding mini-bosses that are encountered on some floors, the Formidable Shadows still should not be underestimated. The Jotun of Power is capable of wiping out an unprepared party with shocking ease. This guide will explain what players can expect from this shadow, and how to ensure they are always prepared.

  • Jotun of Power's Weakness is Pierce Damage, which is the attack option that features an image of bullet holes.
  • Yukari and Aigis both use weapons that deliver pierce-based damage by default. It is always wise to keep one of them in your party for instances like this. Being able to utilize a weapon will allow players to strike a weakness without using any SP or HP.
  • Jotun of Power is resistant to Fire, Ice, Electricity, and Wind.
  • Jotun of Power rewards players with one of P3R's rare crafting materials, Black Quartz.

How to Beat Jotun of Power in Persona 3 Reload

P3R-Jotun-of-Power-Down

Jotun of Power will begin to appear as a Formidable Shadow around Floor 70. Like the other Formidable Shadows in P3R, the Jotun of Power has an expanded health pool, and is capable of dealing considerably more damage to both individuals, and the party as a whole. In most cases, a simple, 'Occam's Razor' approach will generally be best.

Aigis is a powerful ally to have in the party when fighting the Jotun of Power . She will join formally SEES on July 24th, so consider that when planning any excursions that may include the floors inhabited by Jotun of Power shadows.

Make sure to include Yukari or Aigis (when available) in the party, as they are capable of dealing Pierce damage with their base weapons. Because the Jotun of Power is usually alone, any time they are downed will mean an 'All-Out Attack' can be triggered.

With this in mind, it will usually only take one or two rounds with at least two All-Out Attacks each. Between Yukari or Aigis' weapons, and the player's ability to select any Persona that has a pierce-based attack, this should not be a difficult feat.

Upon defeating the Jotun of Power, the players will usually receive Black Quartz, one of the primary ingredients in P3R's Fuse Weapon mechanic.
