Highlights

  • Persona 3 Reload should provide more explanation and detail on certain story elements, particularly regarding Evokers, one of the game's biggest mechanics.
  • Persona 3 Reload should focus on explaining the concept and history of Evokers, as they are an important and iconic aspect of the game that still remains mysterious.
  • In particular, fans could get proper answers about how exactly Evokers summon Personas and how Takaya can summon a Persona without an Evoker.

Persona 3 Reload can shine some light on an element that has been right in front of players since the original game's release. While there are several areas where Persona 3 Reload's take on the story could offer more explanation, the remake can't cover everything at once. While some adjustments to the story may take place, the developers will need to make sure that everything fits together. That makes explaining some elements further sound like the best course of action for Persona 3 Reload to take. In particular, one of the game's biggest mechanics needs more detail.

Even though it's confirmed that Persona 3 Reload won't include The Answer, there is still a lot of potential for the remake's story. Persona 3 largely told a solid plot, introducing players to the world of Shadows and Personas while also explaining why S.E.E.S. were the only ones fighting against them. Even Strega manages to get some solid backstory, and it's a harrowing story at that. The party members all get solid development too, at least in Persona 3 Portable, where they all get their own Social Links. Latching onto and further fleshing out existing material may be the way to go for Persona 3 Reload.

Persona 3 Reload Can Finally Explain the Game's Evokers

Yukari using the Evoker in Persona 3

The Evoker is an item so important that it didn't need to be confirmed to return in Persona 3 Reload, since the game is dependent on it. Typically taking the form of a gun, the Evoker is used by the S.E.E.S. team to summon their Personas. Strangely, later games would not require the protagonists to use Evokers of their own, making them a feature unique to Persona 3's incarnation of the mechanic. Since the users have to pull the trigger at themselves to release their Personas, it drives home the life-or-death situations that the team find themselves in, and it became iconic to Persona 3.

Despite being so important, Evokers are still quite mysterious, although that could be rectified with Persona 3 Reload's approach to canon. While their use in summoning Personas is known, as is their adaptability as shown by Koromaru's dog collar Evoker, not much is known about their history or the reason for their design. Clearly they must have been the result of a lot of development, since they grant their users such amazing abilities. They were also involved in the experiment that the future members of Strega took part in as children. So much about Evokers has been hinted at, but not explained.

While the main plot obviously shouldn't be disregarded, providing more information on the Evokers in Persona 3 Reload would be useful. Persona 3 Reload following the original game may not make time for extra missions or sidequests, but it could open the door to more exposition. For example, a more detailed explanation of how the Evoker manages to summon one's Persona, or for that matter, how Takaya manages to do so without using an Evoker. For something that players see in almost every battle, it's surprising how little is known about them. Persona 3 Reload could finally fill some of those gaps of information.

Persona 3 Reload is taking players back to the days of summoning Personas with Evokers, and could explain the concept further to players this time around. As more is revealed about Persona 3 Reload, players could be in store for more lore revelations in additions to the polish that other parts of the game will receive. In particular, there are still several questions about Evokers that could really benefit from an answer, particularly since they're effectively the game's signature weapon. Persona 3 Reload could have the unique opportunity to finally explain the Evokers.

Persona 3 Reload will be released in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
