The actor performing as playable protagonist Joanna Dark in the upcoming Perfect Dark has revealed herself to be Alix Wilton Regan. The actress has performed in a number of game roles prior to the Perfect Dark reboot that will likely stand out in the memory of many gamers.

Perfect Dark recently got its first real look during the Xbox Games Showcase. The trailer showed off some cinematics and in-game footage, demonstrating how protagonist Joanna Dark will use a combination of stealth, tech, and parkour to sneak around and disable opponents and systems. The reboot is the first new entry to the series in nearly 20 years, as Perfect Dark hasn't received a brand-new game since Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox 360, with a remaster of the original title launching in 2010.

The Long Lead-Up to Perfect Dark

Long before the gameplay trailer for Perfect Dark premiered, the game had seen something of a rocky development, originally planning to be launched on Unreal Engine 4 with development by The Initiative, which was founded in 2018. By 2022, a number of developers had left the team, due to a combination of internal difficulties. The COVID-19 pandemic slowed things down further. Perfect Dark's development has since shifted to Unreal Engine 5.

Gamers have been waiting for this new Perfect Dark since it was first teased to fans with a trailer in 2020. However, there's currently no release date for the Perfect Dark reboot, so it may be some time before fans can see and hear Regan's work for themselves.
