Penn Badgley is proud of his former co-star, Jenna Ortega. The You star recently congratulated the Wednesday up-and-comer, saying she's talented and deserving of her success.

Badgley and Ortega starred together in Netflix's You season 2. Badgley plays Joe Goldberg, a stalker on the run more than once. Season 2 sees Joe running off to Los Angeles, where he meets Ortega's Ellie and her older sister Delilah (Carmela Zumbado). Though Joe has a soft spot for younger, troubled youths, he eventually scares Ellie off, and she is not seen in You season 3, nor is she in the first half of season 4.

While being interviewed by MTV Movies, Badgley was asked about Ortega's success with hits like Wednesday, and he had nothing but kind things to say about her. While Badgley admitted he hasn't seen Wednesday, he was still happy for his former co-star. “I'm super happy for Jenna. I mean, she’s so talented and really deserves it. She's blowing up. We couldn't get her on the podcast anymore, I bet you," he said, referring to his own show. "She's so big!”

Ortega was supposed to return in You season 4, but her filming commitments for Wednesday meant she couldn't come back to the series. Her absence is a loose end in the show because she's one of the few characters aware of Joe's true identity and actions as a serial killer. She was last seen being given money to disappear, but she may return someday to claim vengeance on Joe. After all, it wouldn't be the only time a character from Joe's past attempts to do so.

Unfortunately, nothing can get through to Joe. Though he almost decided to leave town for Ellie's sake, he quickly found himself ensconced in Love's (Victoria Pedretti) web, resulting in Delilah's death. If You does get a fifth season, perhaps Ellie can make her comeback. Season 5 of the series is likely the final one, and Ellie's return could be the final piece in the puzzle of Joe's downfall.

Of course, Ortega is set to film Wednesday season 2 sometime in the not-too-distant future. It's possible that scheduling might not work out again, though it depends on if and when You is renewed. It's possible that Ortega could cameo as a sort of cliffhanger ending to season 4. You is fond of these types of endings, and her return could be a great way to set up a potential final season.

Wednesday season 1 is available on Netflix, and You season 4, part 2, will release on March 9, 2023.
