The first season of Peacemaker on HBO Max has just wrapped up, and viewers have been raving about this new entry into the DCEU. Although he was initially a minor superhero, Peacemaker's appearances in The Suicide Squad and his titular show have propelled him to major popularity.

With the first season being so successful, it's no surprise that director and writer James Gunn was given the green light to go ahead and film another season. While the first season was a great standalone story, it did leave a lot of open threads that a second season could explore more thoroughly.

10 More Of Peacemaker's Past

Peacemaker Chris's childhood with his brother

A defining part of Peacemaker's character is the trauma that is derived from his troubled past. The memories of abuse and indoctrination from his father, as well as the accidental death of his brother Keith, plague and haunt Peacemaker to this day.

While viewers saw a good amount of Peacemaker's past in season 1, a second season could provide more opportunities to look into it. Getting a clearer image of what exactly happened to Christopher Smith as a kid could do a lot towards developing his character.

9 More Fights With Costumed Villains

Despite being a superhero show, Peacemaker has very few costumed villains appearing in its first season. Over its eight episodes, only the Judomaster and the White Dragon end up appearing, with the main antagonist of the series being the alien Butterflies that possess human beings.

While it's not a necessity, seeing more costumed villains could add a lot of fun to the show. Incorporating more obscure villains (like the previously mentioned Judomaster) could also be a great way of bringing lesser known characters into the spotlight.

8 Peacemaker And Harcourt Getting Closer

Peacemaker's initial relationship with his team was fairly dismal, and his relationship with the stoic Emilia Harcourt is no exception. However, by the end of the series, the two have gotten much closer, and it's possible that they might enter into a romantic relationship.

While it's hard to say if such a relationship would be ideal, hopefully season 2 will provide more scenes that develop the relationship between these two characters. While it may not be possible for Peacemaker to have a normal love life, that doesn't mean that he can't find happiness.

7 Reunion With The Suicide Squad

Peacemaker Harley Quinn, Ratcatcher 2, Bloodsport, King Shark, and Polka Dot Man

By the end of The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker had pretty much burned his bridges with the other members of Task Force X. After killing Rick Flag and trying to kill Bloodsport and Ratcatcher 2, it wouldn't be a surprise to learn that the crew had a grudge against him.

Still, a reunion of the Suicide Squad with the Peacemaker could be interesting: Peacemaker is a different person now, and while that might not matter to the Squad, it would be interesting to see whether this new Peacemaker tries to show remorse for his actions in the movie.

6 More Interactions With High-Profile Superheroes

Peacemaker Justice League arriving after the commotion

One hilarious recurring joke involved Peacemake bringing up disgusting, perverted rumors about high profile superheroes like Aquaman and Green Arrow. Seeing how people react to the bizarre rumors that Peacemaker brings up is always fun, especially when they seem to believe it.

In the second season, it might be fun to see those superheroes show up, even as cameos. It happened at the end of Season 1, giving the viewers a couple of hilarious moments that couldn't be seen outside this show. It could also be interesting to see more of how Peacemaker interacts with such famous superheroes like the Justice League.

5 Repercussions Of Goff's Survival

Peacemaker Goff trapped in a jar

During season 1, the main instigator of the plot (and essentially the main antagonist) is the Butterfly queen, known to the cast as Goff, her original host. After taking control of Detective Song and the majority of the police officers and prisoners, she is ultimately spared by Peacemaker and lives with him at his home.

With a returning role for Season 2, it's up in the air as to what exactly will happen as a result of Goff's survival. It's not clear if the others know of her survival, so that could complicate things if they discover her in the future.

4 Consequences Of Leota's Revelations

Despite being a newcomer to the team, Leota Adebayo quickly becomes a steadfast friend to Peacemaker, which makes it hard for her to complete the secret orders given to her by her mother, Amanda Waller. In the end, her conscience wins out, and Leota decides to out Waller's efforts with Task Force X out to the public.

This doesn't just have repercussions in the show, but in the DCEU as a whole. With the Suicide Squad now openly known to the world, this can have devastating effects that could even affect major DCEU movies. It'll be interesting to see how this changes the status quo in Season 2.

3 Peacemaker Resolving His Issues With His Father

Peacemaker's father, Auggie Smith, dies in the seventh episode of the first season, after coming back as the White Dragon and attempting to kill Peacemaker himself. However, that doesn't end his role in the show; he returns as a specter in Peacemaker's mind, continuing to haunt him even now.

Season 2 is sure to continue elaborating on Peacemaker's parental issues, especially since Auggie will continue to torment him in his mind. Whether or not Christopher will be able to overcome this is certainly something fans will tune in to see.

2 The Team Getting Back Together

At the beginning of the series, the team was fairly dysfunctional, and the group did not get along. However, after a few rather gory episodes and incidences of mistrust, the gang ended up becoming close friends, despite their different personalities and backgrounds.

By the end of Season 1, it seems as if the group has split up for now to live their lives and follow their own paths. Hopefully, Season 2 will give them a chance to reunite to fight against some new threat. The team has certainly grown close over the season, and it would be a shame to not see them come together again.

1 More 80s Rock

Peacemaker cast at the end of the opening

One of James Gunn's most common traits is his tendency to use 80s rock music in his works. For Peacemaker, this includes the opening intro, which uses the song "Do You Wanna Taste It?" by the band Wig Wam. 80's rock songs are used throughout the series, often to strong narrative effect.

With James Gunn returning to direct Season 2, it's pretty certain that he'll be bringing lots of references to 80s rock and hair metal with him. Since it helps to set the tone for the series, it'll be fun to see which songs will show up this time around.
