Peacemaker star Danielle Brooks recently teased her character Leota Adebayo's future in the DCEU, despite the resolution and conclusion of her arc in season 1. The HBO Max series was Brooks' premiere and introduction into the DCEU.

Brooks plays the character of Adebayo, the daughter of Viola Davis' Amanda Waller who reluctantly joins Project Butterfly at the request of her mother as a means of financially supporting her and her wife after losing her job at an animal shelter. Adebayo is challenged with having to put an end to all alien creatures. She is also in charge of setting Peacemaker up as the scapegoat for all the lives Project Butterfly will be eliminating. Brooks will be returning for Peacemaker season two along with John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, and Freddie Stroma. Written and directed by The Suicide Squad's James Gunn, Peacemaker season one became an instant success amongst fan and critics. Peacemaker has been commended for its witty sense of humor, strong character development, and star-studded cast.

With Peacemaker season 2 officially confirmed, some returning cast members have come forward to share their thoughts, hopes, and wishes regarding what they would like to see come of season 2. During an interview with Collider Ladies Night before Peacemaker season 1 ended, Brooks acknowledged her character’s fleeing nature, admitting Adebayo only previously wanted to be a part of the mission in hopes of being able to quickly leave. Yet, Brooks argues it’s the time and energy she has already invested into Project Butterfly that brings Adebayo a sense of duty and purpose in the future.

“It’s not just a job, even though it might have started out that way for her. The same way in which she loves to take care of animals or people or family - that’s the same thing I think she is discovering with this new job is the core of what she used to do is still in this new job," Brooks stated. "You might sacrifice your life doing it, but it’s still taking care of people and making a world better. So I hope that she definitely stays doing this line of work because Danielle would love to stay doing this type of work.” Brooks perfectly executed Adebayo's beautiful character arc and growth in Peacemaker season one.

Adebayo started out as discontent and unwilling, then she became the one person who is willing to risk it all for the sake of the mission. It will be hard to top the growth and brilliant humor Brooks displayed in Peacemaker season one. Although it seems as though her character has already undergone a massive transformation during season one, she’s still got a little ways to go. Fans will have to now patiently await season 2 of Peacemaker, since no release date has been announced thus far.

Peacemaker season 1 is now available on HBO Max.
