March 2023 has plenty of new games releasing on PC. These include many smaller games, but a few big releases are in the mix. Interestingly, quite a few of these releases seem to congregate around March 28, making the last Tuesday of the month a big day for PC gamers.

Many games are set to release on March 28, with a few standing out as particularly notable. These include both PC exclusives and PC ports from other platforms. They also range from indie games to major AAA releases and feature various genres. So, while there might not be a game for every taste coming on March 28, PC gamers will have plenty of options to choose from.

March 28 Video Game Releases

The biggest March 28 release is the PC port of The Last of Us Part 1. The remake of Naughty Dog's 2013 narrative-driven action-adventure game The Last of Us launched as a timed PS5 exclusive on September 2, 2022. The game follows protagonist Joel as he escorts a girl named Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America overrun by fungus-infected zombies.

While the narrative remains unchanged, the Last of Us Part 1 features improved graphics, gameplay, AI, animation, level design, and more. It also includes the original game's Left Behind expansion but omits The Last of Us' online multiplayer mode. While some were critical of The Last of Us Part 1 price and the necessity of a remake, the PS5 release saw positive reviews for its many technical improvements. It's also the first The Last of Us game releasing on PC, and will be available on Steam and in The Epic Games store for $59.99.

The Last of Us Part 1 isn't the only post-apocalyptic title making its PC debut on March 28, with Terra Nill launching the same day. Developed by Free Lives and published by Devolver Digital, Terra Nill tasks players with terraforming a wasteland by reintroducing flora and fauna. Described by developers as a "reverse city builder," the focus is on restoring the environment rather than exploiting resources. This includes removing toxins from soil, storing dry riverbeds, and creating complex ecosystems such as wetlands, forests, and meadows. Terra Nill will be available on Steam, as well as iOS and Android.

PC gamers looking for something with a bit more action can instead try out the upcoming first shooter Crime Boss: Rockay City. Developed by 505 games, Crime Boss: Rockay City takes place in the fictional metropolis of Rockay City, Florida, in the 1990s. The death of the local crime Lord has created a power vacuum in the city's underworld, and players assemble a crew to carry out a series of daring heists as they battle rival gangs to become the new King of Rockay City.

The game also boasts an all-star cast of 90s celebrities, featuring voice performances from Michael Madison, Kim Basinger, Damion Poitier, Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, Michael Rooker, Vanilla Ice, and Chuck Norris. While Crime Boss: Rockay City is also on its way to consoles eventually, it releases first on PC. Gamers can download it from The Epic Game Store for $39.99, though customers can save 20% by preordering before March 28.

Finally, gamers looking for something less violent but equally action-packed can grab MLB The Show 23 when it launches on March 28. In addition to the normal baseball simulation, MLB the Show 23 also features a new game mode called Storylines. The narrative mode tells the story of the historical "Negro leagues," African American baseball leagues from the early 20th century before the sport was racially integrated. The mode features players like Jackie Robinson, Buck O'Neil, Satchel Page, Rube Foster, and more.

The game also features changes to MLB The Show 23's Diamond Dynasty and other modes. Unfortunately, the annual baseball sim is skipping a proper PC release this year, so PC gamers who want to try it out must stream it to their PC via an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

While those are the most significant games coming on March 28, there are also a handful of indie games set for release on Steam. Top-down action-adventure tank game Battle Tracks also launches that day, alongside the roguelite deck-building game Death Roads: Tournament. Fantasy deck builder Shattered Heaven also releases on the 28th. Meanwhile, fans of graphical adventure games can try out Simon the Sorcerer: Origins and Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher. Finally, Touch Type Tale: Strategic Typing is an unusual text-based RTS on The Epic Games Store that could be of interest to PC users.
