Highlights

  • Payday 3 players have discovered that the amount of cash in money bags doesn't affect the rewards received, regardless of how stealthy or loud the mission is executed.
  • A Reddit user's breakdown of Payday 3 gameplay revealed that the payout for heists remained roughly the same, regardless of the number of money bags or the mission's execution.
  • The difference in rewards between minimum and maximum missions was minimal, indicating that players may benefit from doing as little as possible in a heist, rather than maximizing their potential.

A Payday 3 player has discovered a flaw in the game in which money bags offer minimal rewards. Since Payday 3 was released, fans have wondered why they can't see how much cash is in money bags, but one player may have found the reason.

Because of the popularity of Payday 2 and some flaws in its sequel, Payday 3 has seen a mixed reception since it launched. Among the things that Payday 3 does better than Payday 2 are the AI, movement, and stealth. In many cases, entering a Payday 2 heist with a stealth focus would result in better rewards, but that isn't necessarily the case in Payday 3. Just like in earlier Payday games, there are ideal builds for executing certain missions. However, this player has discovered that no matter whether they played tactically or loudly, they're met with the same success screen.

Reddit user Theteenagedcrusader recently broke down some Payday 3 numbers to reveal an issue with money bags. Theteenagedcrusader's Payday 3 gameplay so far includes 30 heists which included 16 loud and 14 stealth missions. Between these heists, Theteenagedcrusader has stated that they have done the maximum allotted slots and the minimum required for completing a mission. In Payday 2, players would be able to see how much cash was in a money bag. This prompt would allow Payday 2 players to decide whether the money bag was worth the hassle or not. According to Theteenagedcrusader, the payout for the Payday 3 heists was roughly the same regardless of how many money bags they had or how the mission was executed.

Beyond sharing their story, Theteenagedcrusader also posted a heist success image of one minimum and a maximum mission. While the progress bar in the middle highlights how much less the Payday 3 player did, the reward for the maximum is $598,800 and the minimum is $588,000. These heists were done on Payday 3 solo normal difficulty which shows that Theteenagedcrusader didn't benefit from teammates. The success page highlights that two money bags are worth roughly as much as eight bags. Otherwise, the stats shown on Theteenagedcrusader heist completion page are roughly the same, with few drawbacks on the less lucrative side to explain the minimal difference.

The discrepancy between these two numbers shows that players may benefit by doing as little as they can in a Payday 3 heist rather than maximizing their potential. Because Starbreeze Studios will likely update Payday 3 many times in the future, this money bag issue may be resolved.

Payday 3 is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
